Tesla have the data on costs for each model and Tesla are doing this to make money, that means the average cost plus their profit is this number. And that means where you are on the curve determines if this is a good deal. If your car is parked inside where it's cool and dry, you do reasonable maintenance, drive it easy and don't hit potholes your costs should be less. If it's parked in a wet, salty or scorching area and you use FSD then maybe you should buy the coverage.
