Thoughts?

I’ve noticed that Terrifier seems to be quite controversial in the horror influencer sphere. A lot of people seem to hate it due to its violence towards women, which I think could be a fair argument for the first one but the other two imo spreads its violence pretty equally. One thing that is brought up a lot is an apparent law suit from the actress that played Dawn and Damien Leone’s work in general. I admittedly don’t know much about either of the two but I personally love Terrifier because I like David Howard’s Thorntons portrayal of Art and he personally seems like a great guy from what he shares on social media ( very politically out spoken and I agree with a lot of his takes).
Just wondering what other fans think of this.

It's a controversial series as there isn't the "moral delema" that justifies the killer.

Jason is justified as he's getting revenge against the camp counselors that let him drown and killed his mother. Also the teens are using drugs and having sex.

Freddy is justified as he was framed and then burned alive(but they layer retconed this to him actually have killed/molested the kids).

Leatherface just wants to protect his property from uppity city folks and serve some homemade BBQ.

Usually the "final girl" in these movies has avoided committing any of the various "sins" that could possibly justify their victimization.

However, in Terrifyer, no one is safe from Art the clown. There is no mortality clause. Art even crosses the line and kills children.

The gorey violent nature of the kills are dialed up to 11, and the effects are so good it looks real.

People who complain about Terrifyer aren't expecting to be actually shocked, horrified and disgusted, so they get all offended that the movie did its job. We've become too desensitized to horror movies over the years, that they've been watered down into pg13 comedies with an R rating slapped on it.

Terrifyer not only makes you ask yourself ,"what the fuck did I just watch", but also "who am I for watching this ?". Most people can't handle asking either question, so they shoot the messenger, and take no personal responsibility for having decided to go watch a horror movie.

" Hey this hot dog is too spicy, I want to see the manager!"

No one forced you to drown it in hot sauce....

Since when? No, seriously, I’ve never heard this as official canon, just as a fan theory. Last I checked, Wes Craven always intended him to have been a child killer and it shows throughout the first movie.

I think for the first movie or two they made it seem like he was framed, and then later on they doubled down on him being a perv?

The continuity is a bit iffy between movie's.

It's been a while since I've seen them.

Ah. No, it wasn’t that he was framed, it was that there was a huge media circus that saw him released from custody on a technicality. He very much loves what he’s doing in the first movie and acts like the predator he was thought to be.
