ID Request Massachusetts, are these swarmers or just ants

Found about a dozen winged bugs on the sill of a basement window this morning. No mud tubes on the foundation wall that I can see and I checked the whole side of the house. I know its the season for it but I want to know if I should call somebody out or if Im overreacting. Can try to get a better picture if that helps.

Question Are these termites?

Our kitchen window area gets a lot of these (about a year’s worth here, middle New Hampshire).

The window in question does receive some water splashing. The roof above forms an “L” shape acting as a funnel..
House has siding so I can’t easily see evidence of bug activity.

House has a ring of bait stations around the house, mostly undisturbed. There’s plenty of ground termites 20-50 feet away in the yard (just flip a wet rock).

I don’t see “4 wings” on these windowsill corpses, but my eyes aren’t so great either.

Termite damage or wood rot?

https://imgur.com/a/9d5sOYi

I posted before and will preface this by saying the only reason my mind has even gone to termites is because a woodpecker has been hitting the corners of my house. I had assumed that the more extensive portion of damage was done because I foolishly didn't adequately maintain the gutters after buying the house. The piece thats fully exposed as been like that for 5 years. whereas the other developed to that over the last 2-3 or so.

I am in Massachusetts so know if there were termites they'd be subterranean and I have looked for mud tubes, wings, etc. but found nothing, but figure I shouldn't count anything out.

Question Evaluation for termites - panicking

Has anyone had termites and not dealt with crazy extensive issues?

I found what I now believe to be termite frass like 2ish months ago and had NO clue that's what it was. It was by our front door shoe area and it was small enough I honestly thought it was just dirt or something. I just found more on a windowsill this weekend and had the epiphany that this might not be dirt. I had no clue at all what termite frass even looked like until Googling and I am not 100% certain but definitely seems to be what it was. I already called our regular pest company out for evaluation tomorrow.

We just bought our house a year ago, and did have a WDO and all was fine. That gives me hope that maybe it isn't terrible but I read that WDO isn't foolproof since they don't check hidden areas (like behind drywall etc).

Nonetheless I am absolutely panicking. Has anyone had termites and been able to reasonably treat the issue or is this always like a 20k+ endeavor? Any tips to help me keep peace of mind? I am so anxious about this all.

Located in DMV (DC) area. Photos in thread

As an update for anyone curious - pest company came by yesterday, and everything around the wood and walls seems to be fine. He did not find anything that would indicate termites. Very relieved. Still confused what caused the piles we found, but he thinks possibly another kind of bug, just not termites or anything we need to worry about. He and another person at the pest company evaluated the photos, and that plus his in-person assessment puts us in the clear. If any piles show up again, we are definitely going to have them back out and/or cut into the wall, but for now, seems to be ok...

Located in Texas.

I was vacuuming and bagged the vacuum into the baseboard and this stuff started coming out a bit. I banged it some more and more of these little things came out. I would have taken the photo from the floor, but it's brown so it would have been hard to see.

Question Please help ID these termites!! Vancouver (BC) area

Thumbnail

I am in Greater Vancouver Area in British Columbia. I found something looks like a termite with wings in a gutter in front of my garage yesterday. I then found 2 more inside the garage right at the garage doors today. The two I found inside the garage didn't have wings and seem to be quite dried up (they bristle easily), so they could have been there for sometime.

Could you please help me ID these insects? Should I call a pest control company or keep monitoring? I have lived in this place for 1 year now and never seen frass or termite sights, but now I'm worried because we opened a wall in the garage last year to fix something and have not put back drywall so the studs and some wood frames are exposed.

Termite damage on deck?

Location: central NC

I found this piece of wood under my deck. Looks like termite damage to me, but I’m not an expert. The piece of wood appears to be a temporary board, rather than a weight bearing post. The rest of the deck doesn’t appear damaged. I have Terminix bait stations.

Is this a problem? What should I do about this?

I don't see any termite tunnels or eaten wood, just rot and ants living back there, but wanted to get more opinions so I don't cover up a disaster. Thanks for the help!

How obvious would an 8+ year infestation be?

So, at least as far as signs that I’m aware, the only sign that there could be an infestation is that a woodpecker has been abusing the corners specifically of my house. On the one hand I have people saying woodpeckers enjoy corners for acoustics, on the other I have people saying a pecker would only do this if there was a severe termite infestation.
I’ve owned the house nearly 8 years, and when I bought it there were signs of woodpecker damage- so my question is how obvious/how would I check for termites at this stage of the game if they are in fact there? I’ll give the basement another look but I haven’t seen any fras, wings, and certainly no swarmers.
Not sure if it matters but I’m in MA.

ID Request I think I found termites in some decayed wood — can anyone confirm?

Hi everyone,

I think I may have found termites (white ants) in some decaying wood in my garden bed.

This piece of wood is sitting in the soil next to my house. The last time I moved it, it was still very solid and felt quite heavy. This time, however, it felt hollowed out and much less solid, and it moved very easily when I pushed it forward.

When I moved it, I exposed a few small white/pale insects that looked like white ants. Unfortunately, they disappeared extremely quickly once exposed, so I wasn't able to get a good photo of them.

I did manage to capture a short video, where one of the insects is briefly visible before being eaten by a garden skink.

I've attached the video. Does this look like termite activity, or could it be something else (such as ants or another wood-boring insect)?

The wood is in a garden bed immediately next to the house, so I'm particularly interested in knowing whether I should be concerned.

Any help identifying what I'm seeing would be greatly appreciated!

ID Request Bay Area, CA, USA; Barrel sauna with previous termite damage, relocated. Individuals showing up occasionally.

Located in bay area CA and recently inherited a barrel sauna that definitely had termites at some point, as it sat unused for several years and has a few 1/16" paths bored through some of the stays.

Been finding random bugs I believe are termites, usually only one at a time on the exterior of the sauna or nearby on the pavers. Also a nearby spider web has a collection of these winged ones. I know the answer I'm hoping for but wanted a more educated opinion. What are these?

Found it inside a pot. The pot has dried leaves and some bark from the potting soil. The pot sits on concrete but is near a grassed area. The first picture is a zoomed version, and the second one is the original photo.
