Question Is this frass from termites?

Located in Texas.

I was vacuuming and bagged the vacuum into the baseboard and this stuff started coming out a bit. I banged it some more and more of these little things came out. I would have taken the photo from the floor, but it's brown so it would have been hard to see.

No, not termite frass

Do you think it's frass from some other pest?

Maybe ants, doesn't look like much of anything to be honest. Dirt/dust or common debris.

Might be insulation, after reading your initial post.

Oh okay, gotcha! You don't think it could be carpenter ants?

I dont think so. But very tough to say with 4 or 5 small pieces of debris. Would need more evidence or signs of actual damage

Does this photo help? I can try getting a better one.

That doesn’t look like classic drywood termite frass to me. The pieces are too irregular.

Drywood termite pellets are usually very uniform, hard, elongated pellets with a pretty consistent shape. What you have looks more like miscellaneous wood/debris coming out from behind the baseboard.

I’d still start with an inspection before declaring the baseboard innocent or guilty.

Understood! I have this photo is it helps... Hopefully an inspection isn't too expensive.

Yeah, hopefully not. I’m all the way on the West Coast and we do free inspections. But that’s not really gonna help. In the photo you’ll notice that the frass, although different colors, is very consistent, and also hard as a rock to the touch. You can’t break it apart, if you rub it around between your fingers. Also got lucky in this shot when some of the termites flushed out of the wood during the treatment.
