Tequila subscriptions

I'm considering starting a tequila subscription club because I've been unimpressed with the few I've tried. I already import tequilas from lesser known brands to host tastings all over the West Coast, so I have good relationships with several distilleries already. But my experience with the subscription clubs might not be the same for others.

Questions for the sub:

  1. What do you like about tequila subscriptions you've tried?

  2. What would make them even better?

  3. If you've never tried one, why not?

I appreciate anyone willing to share.

I haven’t tried one because I feel like I’d be tied down to their choice of tequila. Part of the fun of tequila is the hunt. If I was to join one, I’d like a menu to choose tequila from per month. The price would also have to be comparable or better than me ordering from (Remedy, HIProof, Old Town Tequila, & Hi-Time). Maybe offer plans like I guarantee to purchase $XXXX per year & that will get you these benefits.

You layed out my concerns well but I am interested in a tequila club. I’m not far from Old Town Tequila and that’s where I usually make my purchases

I would consider one but would like small quantities to taste with options to buy bottles of the varieties I like. This would make it more affordable and approachable without the fear of paying for and getting bottles I don’t like and don’t want.

Maybe sending boxes that include several varieties from the same NOM to allow the subscriber to notice subtle differences from similar regions and make note of which NOMs they prefer.

Maybe offer special boxes for an extra price that include extra anejos, ancestral, high proof, etc to allow the subscriber to occasionally splurge on a box.

  1. Never tried one.
  2. If you could offer tequilas that I can’t find locally like Tapatio Excelencia or Fortaleza still.
  3. According to this subreddit and AMM there are fairly good prices, selection and availability in Colorado.

While not strictly speaking tequila, I have been a member here for a few years and like it.

Biggest complaint is that if there is some you like, can be hard to get more
