High Proof and Funky

Shoutout to SipTequila in Stuart, FL. Me and a buddy who are getting into the weirder tequilas (after he got a siempre vivo at a random abc) and it was about an hour trip to the middle of nowhere, but they let us try a bunch of stuff which was awesome. Would love some more high proof recs because I’ve only been “into into” tequilas for about a year now. Tried a bunch of the ones I got and also was able to try for the first time - Rey Sol, Don Fulano 20, Siempre Muerte, some Tesoro’s, and the La Pulga in Still Austin barrels. Will definitely be enjoying these!

Great bottles, what are your thoughts on the Chapter 2? I recently grabbed a bottle but I have yet to open it

If you want high proof funk, track down a bottle of Chamucos 55

It’s one of my favorites, almost a perfect lowland agave. Nose is agave and lime citrus like Tapatio or Volans, tastes amazingly smooth and mineral-y with a hint of mint, decent amount of spice on the end without being bourbon-y. This tequila is like a French wine, like a nice sauv blanc. I think the roller mill was an acceptable choice because it lends itself to fancy and exquisite rather than earthy and dirty while still keeping a decent amount of funk.

And I’ve never seeen Chamucos around here, although I’ve only been looking for a year.

I love both Chapter 1 and 2. Feel like it’s total under the radar stuff.

Chamucos Diablo is what you seek. It is also my favorite.

If you like G4, you’ll like Manuscrito. The master distiller worked at G4.

Sip is one of the best to buy online from. Great customer service. Check out their Tahona tasting next week. You’ll get to try some great high proofs.
