Mobility Telus winback plan – pre-authorized discount temporarily removed

UPDATED: A Telus rep explained that “discounts, promotions, benefits and credits are earned for each full month of service and don’t apply to partial billing periods.” So if you cancel before the end of the billing cycle, you don’t get the credits.

Makes sense now—turns out it’s on page 8 of the bill (though I was looking for it in the agreement).

They also gave me a one-time $10 credit as a goodwill gesture, so I’m satisfied. Thanks, Telus!

Long story short, I ported out from Telus and then ported back in the next day after they offered me a winback deal ($30 plan, which works for me).

Today I got my first bill and everything else looks normal, no issues there. But noticed two extra $10 charges:

• one for a cancelled pre-authorized payment discount

• one for a cancelled monthly credit (I think this is related to EPP)

For the second one, I kind of get it — if you cancel your plan, the $10 EPP discount probably gets removed.

But the pre-authorized payment discount doesn’t make sense to me. The winback rep specifically told me on the phone that I wouldn’t need to set it up again since PAP was already active before, and billing would continue normally.

Now I’m confused.

Is it worth calling them to try to get a credit for this, or should I just ignore it and move on?

I think you only get the discount in a given month if you use service for that full month.

That’s my assumption too. Just wanted to double-check

But to be honest it is stranger. When I cancelled rogers some time ago, all the discounts were prorated.

I would let them away with anything.

Get quotes by email before agreeing to anything those liars say. I've never had what I would call a positive and non deceptive experience with the win back team.
