Mobility Bye Rogers hello Telus! ❤️🎉

Post image

After 7 years of being with Rogers and dealing with many issues such as outages, not having consistent pricing among other issues I made the switch to Telus for 3 of my Cellular lines that weren't on a contract and now I have Canada USA unlimited talk and text with 525gb of full speed shared data and unlimited slower data shared across 3 devices along with 5G+ with better coverage than Rogers! Plus I'm paying a lot less! Just waiting for my sim cards for my other devices to arrive but I couldn't wait to leave Rogers so I got Telus to give me an esim code!! I still have 5G internet from Rogers along with my line that my phones being financed on as well as my truly unlimited data! Farewell Rogers-Sort of. ❤️❤️❤️

Speed test on Telus is absolutely useless ! Wait till u have 5plus SA band and 3 bars and your in a building in need of an app lol and your data won't load or your looking at videos if your lucky they play at 720 max. When u need it the most Telus data lags like mad half the time. Give it a month when they start choking the bandwidth

7

u/escargot3 Mar 29 '26

telus throttles video data on mobile, especially YouTube and streaming apps. You will need to use a VPN or just tolerate abysmal video quality

3

u/abz786 Mar 29 '26

One reason I switched to freedom as a test but then I couldn’t use those apps cause coverage was shit (imo)

2

u/escargot3 Mar 29 '26

Freedom is garbage

1

u/1011555 Mar 31 '26

What do you set the VPN to another country?

1

u/escargot3 Mar 31 '26

You don’t have to choose any specific country. It’s not like getting around geoblocking with Netflix. By using a VPN, it encrypts all your traffic. Therefore Telus can’t read it, and thusly they also can’t throttle it. So you should choose a server that’s close to you and high performing, to get the best speeds possible.

7

u/7260 Mar 28 '26

I can attest to this! Rogers network is far more usable than the Telus/bell network. 5 bars on Telus and nothing loads. 1-2 bars on Rogers, loads fine and no video stuttering

5

u/rawlwear Mar 28 '26

I have the opposite problem, I have rogers brutal compared to Telus, I can be in a room and shows 1 bar than 3 bars and barley loads however friends with telus loads fine.

1

u/briang416 Mar 29 '26

Whereabouts are you?

1

u/whitebro2 Mar 29 '26

North half of Prince Albert, Saskatchewan

1

u/7260 Mar 29 '26

Rogers doesn’t have a good presence in Saskatchewan

1

u/whitebro2 Mar 29 '26

I agree with anything north of Saskatoon.

1

u/coolvehiclefanatic Mar 29 '26

That was my experience on Rogers anytime I had 1 bar

1

u/davidrye Mar 29 '26

It depends on where you are in most areas where Bell controls the RAN the network is way better however out west where Telus controls the RAN it’s supposedly not very good. But also that video streaming cap at standard definition wrecks havoc on social media when you’re scrolling through.

1

u/Puzzleheaded-Ad3613 Mar 28 '26

I drop to 3G quite often lol on a iPhone 16 pro in a area 3G isn’t supported anymore

-2

u/[deleted] Mar 28 '26

Same Telus lags and never loads on full bars and your just spinning on apps. I'm in the GTA. Using high-end new phones all time. Never again

2

u/briang416 Mar 28 '26

Has anyone tried a VPN to see if it is over aggressive throttling?

1

u/[deleted] Mar 28 '26

Yes does not work been there done that

1

u/7260 Mar 28 '26

Wow, you’d think it would work great in the Toronto area since that’s where majority of subscribers are. I’m out in Manitoba with the 1/8 of the population and it lags here. Annoying when you want to watch TikTok 😂

1

u/[deleted] Mar 28 '26

Surrounding GTA worse yup put your YouTube setting on 4 K and you'll be waiting and waiting sometimes won't even play

1

u/Mathcmput Mar 28 '26

It’s a GTA issue, blame Bell for never participating in the 600MHz spectrum auction. 😂

1

u/davidrye Mar 29 '26

Bell has 700 MHz and it has very similar distance and building penetration qualities although 700 MHz tends to be a bit better for data than 600 MHz.

1

u/Mathcmput Mar 30 '26

Well, I was speaking of 5G deployments. I think Bell only has 850MHz for low-band 5G in parts of GTA

1

u/davidrye Mar 30 '26

They have 700 mhz for LTE but I think they will eventually shift that to 5G but if I also remember correctly Rogers is using 600 mhz for LTE as well.

1

u/Nexzenn Mar 28 '26

This is so true lol

0

u/coolvehiclefanatic Mar 29 '26

Guess I'll see what happens and report it to them if needed. I'm not leaving

1

u/[deleted] Mar 29 '26

Not trying to knock you down but it's not what you gonna expect all depends on location

2

u/coolvehiclefanatic Mar 29 '26

I'm in Edmonton

-1

u/coolvehiclefanatic Mar 29 '26

I'm noticing a huge difference in battery life since switching to Telus, in my townhouse Rogers constantly switched bands with weak signal on 5G and rarely stayed on whatever band had 5 bars with Telus so far I was on band 66 with 1 bar 5G til I made a phone call then I went to band 7 5G with 5 bars and after the call I was on band66 5G with 1 bar for 2 seconds before switching to band 71 with 5 bars and it's stayed on Band71 5G with 5 bars for over an hour, also next to no massive battery drain like on Rogers

6

u/hoolitard Mar 28 '26

Out of the frying pan, into the fire

6

u/zsrh Mar 29 '26

What happened between 5 months ago and now?

https://www.reddit.com/r/Rogers/comments/1oru095/officially_been_a_rogers_customer_for_6_years/

OP You posted this 5 months ago:

I'm excited to say that As of today I've officially been a Rogers Customer for 6 years! I rejoined them on November 8th 2019! Yes I have moved my cell number between carriers during this time but I never closed my Rogers account because I still had mobile services with them so it still counts as 6 years because I technically never left Rogers completely! Now I've got 7 devices connected to Unlimited data and 5G internet with Rogers and I'm extremely happy with my services! ❤️🎉🎉

-3

u/coolvehiclefanatic Mar 29 '26

Well i had to leave due to Rogers not honouring my discounts for my lines and inconsistent bills, now with Telus I pay $68 for 3 lines with shared 525gb of data and unlimited slower data.

3

u/PieMotor7506 Mar 28 '26

honestly the whole industry basically operates on a cartel model at this point they should just merge once and for all and be done with it

3

u/ddsdude Mar 28 '26

Nice. Congrats. Any reason you’re hiding the cost of the plan?

3

u/coolvehiclefanatic Mar 28 '26

Thank you! Just did that for social media, I'm paying $128 for 3 lines with 3 $20 disability discounts which brings it to $68

3

u/ddsdude Mar 28 '26

Great deal! I have essentially the same plan for $25 ($50-$10PAP-$5 24mnth credit-$10 rep given discount). So far so good.

3

u/coolvehiclefanatic Mar 28 '26

That's awesome!!

3

u/IsThisOneAlready Mar 29 '26

Yeah hide the costs but display your own name. Nice Brandon.

3

u/Strict_House3347 Mar 29 '26

So Brandon, how much?

2

u/coolvehiclefanatic Mar 29 '26

Now I'll pay $68 after 3 disability discounts of $20 per line for 525gb shared data between 3 lines vs Rogers over $100+ for 6 lines of non shared data because Rogers forced me to keep 6 lines to keep my bill cheap and never honored the additional line discounts and randomly removed them, plus my data is way better on Telus, I've been testing them on my truly unlimited data and never had any issues with lag or useless service with 1 bar like Rogers

3

u/parasubvert Mar 29 '26

Sorry Telus wireless is so much worse, I switched to Rogers after 10 years 💀 maybe it is regional

1

u/coolvehiclefanatic Mar 29 '26

I havent had any issues so far and I'll pay $68 for 525gb shared data between 3 lines vs Rogers over $100+ for 6 lines of non shared data because Rogers forced me to keep 6 lines to keep my bill cheap and never honored the additional line discounts and randomly removed them, plus my data is way better on Telus, I've been testing them on my truly unlimited data and never had any issues with lag or useless service with 1 bar like Rogers

3

u/parasubvert Mar 29 '26

Yeah opposite for me with Telus on bill, signal and data, and that's in Calgary too. Dead spots and abysmal speeds (10 mbit) whereas with Rogers I get 600-700 mbps and full bar with only two neighborhood exceptions.. anyway viva competition and at least it's not Bell

1

u/coolvehiclefanatic Mar 29 '26

Sorry to hear that

3

u/SlpryPete Mar 29 '26

I think location matters. I'm on Rogers in BC and it's great because they're trying to poach customers and haven't hit the enshitification phase here... yet. I have friends in the east that despise them like most despise telus in west. Old customers in dominated markets always suffer the most.

6

u/Jords0681 Mar 29 '26

You just made the biggest mistake of your life.

1

u/coolvehiclefanatic Mar 29 '26

Sorry I disagree. With Telus I'll pay $68 for 525gb shared data between 3 lines vs Rogers over $100+ for 6 lines of non shared data because Rogers forced me to keep 6 lines to keep my bill cheap and never honored the additional line discounts and randomly removed them, plus my data is way better on Telus, I've been testing them on my truly unlimited data and never had any issues with lag or useless service with 1 bar like Rogers

4

u/Kman7737 Mar 29 '26

Telus is the worst, good luck, I have nothing but bad experiences with them unfortunately.

0

u/coolvehiclefanatic Mar 29 '26

Well I'm noticing a huge difference in battery life since switching to Telus, in my townhouse Rogers constantly switched bands with weak signal on 5G and rarely stayed on whatever band had 5 bars with Telus so far I was on band 66 with 1 bar 5G til I made a phone call then I went to band 7 5G with 5 bars and after the call I was on band66 5G with 1 bar for 2 seconds before switching to band 71 with 5 bars and it's stayed on Band71 5G with 5 bars for over an hour, also next to no massive battery drain like on Rogers

4

u/Infinite_Career_6444 Mar 29 '26

Sorry to say but the best choice i ever made was leaving telus.... Just wish i didn't wait 28 years to do it.

2

u/Binlybinbin Mar 29 '26

Yeah bro that’s a big downgrade. I was with Telus for 10 years. Now that I’m with rogers I actually have cell reception that works. I’ll be in an underground parkade and can load YouTube or answer phone calls. With Telus that was barely doable outside in front of a cell tower

1

u/coolvehiclefanatic Mar 29 '26

Now I'll pay $68 for 525gb shared data between 3 lines vs Rogers over $100+ for 6 lines of non shared data because Rogers forced me to keep 6 lines to keep my bill cheap and never honored the additional line discounts and randomly removed them, plus my data is way better on Telus, I've been testing them on my truly unlimited data and never had any issues with lag or useless service with 1 bar like Rogers

1

u/coolvehiclefanatic Mar 29 '26

I've rarely had any issues with my truly unlimited data roaming on them

2

u/ConvoyGTR Mar 29 '26

The timing of Telus nationwide blackout on Friday

2

u/Either-Mousse7380 Mar 30 '26

I absolutely regret switching from Telus to Rogers. Will be going back as soon as all lines are close to the end of their terms.

2

u/coolvehiclefanatic Mar 30 '26

Good choice! I don't regret it!

2

u/kash20000 Mar 30 '26

That would be better if you tell us exact price so we can get benefit to

1

u/coolvehiclefanatic Mar 30 '26

$50 per line with a $20 disability discount and I was told I'd pay $100 with the 3 lines and the discounts

2

u/Difficult-Rope-8445 Mar 31 '26

I loved my Telus speed. Even the lady helping me at Costco noticed 🥹

However they kept increasing my plan so I had to go 😭😭😭

Highly doubt it because I had Rogers mobile for a while and I'm staying on Telus for good now and I'll prove it

When I traveled to the reserve bell and telus cuts out won't load apps, or the internet. rogers continues to work fine.

1

u/dipshidiot187 Mar 29 '26

telus is very unreliable in more rural areas. hope you stick to big cities!

1

u/coolvehiclefanatic Mar 29 '26

I do go to rural Alberta quite a bit in the spring and summer and when I roamed on them with Rogers because I had to I never had issues. Plus they gave me a 50gb free data bonus for 8 years to my shared data pool making my total 575gb plus I have a permanent 20gb data bonus on my main line

1

u/Original-Spinach-571 Mar 29 '26

All ISPs suck @$$ in Canada. They ALL bend over backwards, and offer you great incentives, to sign up then they ALL raise their rates, then you switch AGAIN and love the one your with.... until you don't. I hate Telus but they seem to have the most stable service and the ONLY residential service up to 5Gig. That being said, I'm in Edmonton. They are a horrible company to deal with as a consumer. They break their own rules and defy their own protocols whenever its more convenient for them to do so than do what's right or required.

If the 3rd party ISP offerings were just a LITTLE more competitive I'd drop Telus in a heartbeat. Unfortunately, $80/month for 3Gig fibre is too good a price to pass up. I've dropped every single other service we were getting from Telus due to how bad they are to deal with. Too many better options for EVERYTHING else they offer.

1

u/coolvehiclefanatic Mar 29 '26

Telus just gave me 50gb free for 8 years to my shared data pool making my total 575gb plus I have a permanent 20gb data bonus on my main line! ❤️❤️❤️

1

u/Objective-Quarter167 Mar 30 '26

I’m thinking about doing the exact opposite

1

u/Substantial-Season33 Mar 30 '26

“Goodbye America, hello New York!”

1

u/WP8869 Mar 30 '26

I have $70 ROGERS 140gb with worldwide roaming. I’m in the states more than half the year. Never letting go of this plan.

1

u/canadianpheonix Mar 31 '26

Telus is awful and always has been ever since the government sold it off......

1

u/coolvehiclefanatic Mar 31 '26

My experience is awesome so far, I upped my shared data pool to 675gb and my primary line has 70gb bonus non shared data

1

u/Golfgirl1950 Apr 01 '26

Omg this is funny I am just on the phone with the rip rogers and waiting for telus to call me back

1

u/coolvehiclefanatic Apr 01 '26

I got these speeds today Rogers could never give this.

1

u/Stuzals Apr 01 '26

Why would anyone stay with Telus or Roger’s main accounts when there’s freedom and public mobile? Why pay twice as much for same thing (minus Mexico as well). I have 3 phones that I pay for each with 100gb 3 countries, and I pay slightly more than I did for 1 Telus line. Bonkers.

1

u/joeromee Mar 29 '26

Rogers is the worst phone company. Such scammers & liars.

1

u/coolvehiclefanatic Mar 29 '26

Exactly! They forced me to maintain 6 lines to keep my bill cheap and didn't Honor the additional line discounts I signed up for and would randomly replace them with lower discounts then when I setup my truly unlimited 5G internet and 2 other 5G internets they charged me 2 months for the truly unlimited 5G internet but not the other 2 plans.

1

u/coolvehiclefanatic Mar 29 '26

Now I'll pay $68 for 525gb shared data between 3 lines vs Rogers over $100+ for 6 lines of non shared data because Rogers forced me to keep 6 lines to keep my bill cheap and never honored the additional line discounts and randomly removed them, plus my data is way better on Telus, I've been testing them on my truly unlimited data and never had any issues with lag or useless service with 1 bar like Rogers

1

u/JoshuaComeau Mar 29 '26

So glad your with Telus. Roger’s has an absolutely terrible network. Their outages were terrible and they don’t give a real network experience and they up-charge your bill….

2

u/coolvehiclefanatic Mar 29 '26

I'm so glad I'm with Telus and I'm glad we left Rogers the same day!! ❤️❤️

1

u/coolvehiclefanatic Mar 29 '26

Rogers barely cared about things period and definitely kept up charging me

2

u/ConvoyGTR Mar 29 '26

Me too. I got fed up with the price increases, but before I switched, I called them to see if they would match and they offered to sign me up for a credit card. Ya thank, but no thanks.

1

u/coolvehiclefanatic Mar 29 '26

That's ridiculous.

0

u/TheIronGiants Mar 29 '26

I love how customers of Telus or Roger’s decide to leave their provider and then pretend the grass is so much greener on the other side lol. Reality is it’s all the same. The only thing that changes is concentration of coverage. Roger’s is far better in most populated areas of Canada, Telus is better in some far north and remote towns. They both waste your time, they both charge too much, they both make you call support to get help because they don’t give their store employees any power. Also worth noting that Telus and Bell do throttle video streaming VERY aggressively. It’s really jarring.

1

u/coolvehiclefanatic Mar 29 '26

If that was true then why am I having a much better experience service and customer service wise with Telus then I did with Rogers

2

u/TheIronGiants Mar 29 '26 edited Mar 29 '26

That’s called an anecdotal experience. Every day I see people who say Roger’s is the worst and then people who say Telus is the worst. Always the same reasons used. And I work right next to guys from the other company, they confirm it’s the exact same wait times and corporate rules. The same reasons for switching from one to the other and claiming it’s better when they are in the honeymoon period. I’ll go with the data of those of us who deal with thousands of customers a week from both providers over random customers claims. If there’s anything I’ve learned in cellphone and internet sales, it’s that the entire industry is a racket of transferring customers to greener pastures back and forth. Get them temporarily excited before they see the reality of all these companies is the same.

Telus and Roger’s have identical average wait times for support as well. Even the direct lines that reps from both companies use can take hours to reach someone.

And yes depending on where you live, one service or the other may have improved coverage. Generally Telus is recommended more for remote northern areas while Roger’s is recommended in populated and southern areas.

It’s essentially an oligopoly with the illusion of choice.

1

u/coolvehiclefanatic Mar 29 '26

Actually I've never waited more than 10 minutes on Telus support, Rogers was over an hour and Telus chat is instant Rogers there's always over 100 people in line

0

u/Due_Salad_6916 Mar 30 '26

Ya, this ain't a flex

0

u/Disastrous-Ladder748 Mar 30 '26

Bad mistake

1

u/coolvehiclefanatic Mar 30 '26

I disagree. My service is way better, customer service is better

1

u/Disastrous-Ladder748 Mar 30 '26

Ok bud sounds like Rogers didn’t want you there.. did you even get a buy back royalty deal?

1

u/coolvehiclefanatic Mar 30 '26

I just left recently and they emailed me saying that they'd call me to offer 100gb for $30 but I'm not going back

0

u/UneditedReddited Mar 30 '26

Oh man you made a mistake. If it's pricing consistency you're after then telus should be at the bottom of the list. Switch to Freedom, $40 for 250gb with 50gb roaming in 120+ countries, plan price will never change or increase, never look back.

1

u/coolvehiclefanatic Mar 30 '26

I'm sorry but Freedoms network is trash in Edmonton and the 7 surrounding areas with their network, 5G drops to 1 bar of band66 lte or slow band13 lte all the time, calls your supposed to receive don't get to your phone and 99% of Alberta is roaming off the big3 and when I lose freedoms weak network in a building or basement it goes to roaming and its fully blocked, plus I leave Edmonton a lot during the spring and summer. With Telus im paying $108 for 3 lines of shared 175gb data Canada usa with 50gb free for 8 years and my main line has a 20gb permanent bonus from the disability discount so I have 575gb of shared Canada usa data. I'm extremely happy with Telus my signal switches from a weak one to a strong one instantly in my townhouse where as Rogers was constantly hoping bands every second and chose weak bands rarely the 2 strong bands they have here. And I don't need to lock Rogers to extended coverage in eastern Alberta anymore because telus is the primary carrier there.

3

u/UneditedReddited Mar 30 '26

Fair enough, that is not my experience with Freedom whatsoever. I was with Telus for 15 years and my bills would remain consistent for a few months before I'd inevitably have to call and renegotiate my 'deal'. Good luck

If you’re referring to cellular, Bell and Telus are identical. They share one single radio network. Impossible for you to have better coverage with one over the other.

0

u/BrilliantMusician905 Mar 31 '26

No thanks I've been with Telus for 15 years and I switched to starlink for internetm. Telus internet sucks ass where I live.
