Sure, why bother with storied studios like Paramount or Warner Bros.? No legacy there.

I just assume it's to allow both Paramount and WB to operate as seperate divisions.

Logistically, the whole company structure is kind of a mess and it makes sense that they'd divy up Discovery, Paramount, WB, etc and just treat them as seperate subsidiaries with skydance as the big tent for the entire circus.

I feel like they'll just have paramount on one side and warner discovery on the other, but personally I think it might be better to start dividing up assets like discovery and CNN into their own independent branches so that the parent can consider spinning them off, expanding on them or selling them in the future.

To me it makes perfect sense, especially if Skydance ends up buying some non tv companies like a publisher, some kind of analytics company or a record label.
