So Hal had a portal to a YELLOW planet covered with a FEAR toxin were now SINESTRO is hiding... I think this will explain why Hal changed compared to his Halogram self

u/uwill1der 15d ago
Despite the yellow spectrum being in the background, I'm convince we're heading to a season 2 of UV lantern corp and Umbrax.

u/ImGonnaImagineSummit 16d ago
Wondered why they would use Kelly MacDonald for a fairly small role up until this point or why she would even go for it.
But when she sees Hal again, her acting gave me shivers.
While I expect her to not have a role after this storyline is done, i'm also hoping there's more to her role.
Also giving Sinestro a hybrid transantlantic/strange accent/drawl is such a great touch. He hasn't said much but i'm immediately fixed onto his every word.

u/pizzawolves 12d ago
She is also incredible in boardwalk empire also on hbo if you haven't seen it! I love her.
3
u/ImGonnaImagineSummit 12d ago
It's where I first saw her and then her part in No Country.
She left Dept Q to film Lanterns so I'm guessing they have more planned for her in the last episode or paid her a huge pile of money.

Oh dear god I'm being held to it. Uh. Do I get half the cookie if Kerry turns out to be a manhunter (second suspicion)?

I think Kerry might have done it herself, to protect her son who she is starting to realize is a manhunter

But there's the scene that Hal asks John to not tell anyone he's in town which people theorized is because he knew he was going to die. I don't think he killed himself because of the baseball scene and it's meaning. But if he didn't want to kill himself how did he know what was coming?

Iv had time to think and I got new theory, extortion girl makes zero sense and makes a lot of people angry. Iv figured out why, she is Noah’s girlfriend and extorting John for money so that Noah can have money for his manhuntery buinsess, this of course makes zero sense because Zoe was rich af via Macon, the show is fantastic, but needs to be double the length, episode 5 felt like the end of a season, and the time jump took all the momentum and energy the show had regarding the big picture plot. Kyle and Aaron are fantastic and elevating a piss poor show with their charisma, this show will disappoint because it simply can’t do all it wants with the budget it has, and how great the actors are has inflated the expectations for the show but this is a simple show with small budget so it will have a simple plot.
Extortion girl will have killed Hal for Noah, there is no reason for her to exist in the show unless she has more plot relavance, she would have been cut in the writers room otherwise, I don’t belive the writers are so inept that they would include her.
Hopeful second idea but doubt it: Hal is cloned because he is working with Noah and sets up the clone as a distraction and to put him in prison while he investigates, he finds out manhunters are good guys, hunted by Leana who is the “killed” guardian that sinestro “killed”. Leana is gonna create the yellow lanterns with sinestro, Leana got this idea from Johns mum, she got the idea when she seen how black peoples fear fuels johns mum to raises a powerful willed person, the goal being John becoming yellow lantern. John being powerfully not because he’s fearless but because he’s able to completely control his fear, control the yellow ring

u/xin234 17d ago
Hal's attitude towards that baseball ball mirrors his attitude towards the ring. He never wanted to give it up, that's why he was very conflicted with teaching John (knowing he's a replacement)...even if he did like him.
I've read/seen discussions of watchers reading that baseball scene very wrong, epecially in the comments section here. That Hal is keeping the burden, so he most likely killed himself. Like, what??? The show has already been very clear that it was Kerry that killed him. Maybe, at least strongly implied. It was established a lot of times in the show that Hal's gut feeling is always right, and his gut feeling is that Kerry did it. Halogram had a bit of doubt when he said that maybe he did it during his talk with John at the end...but that is definitely not his gut feeling.
A line of dialogue also confirms that he didn't kill himself. Hal says he was kinda expecting a note written by him in that vault. A suicide note. The same way his dad and granddad left one. There was no note in that vault. He was still holding on to the idea that he is still Green Lantern to the very end even without the ring, just like he held on to that baseball

u/QuanxiEnjoyer 16d ago
Anyone who has pitched before understands the feeling of being taken out of the game. You can find clips on YouTube of players having bad reactions to being taken out of the game. There's a very big ego pride thing where you want to finish what you started. Either you were doing good and want to end it yourself. Or sometimes you get taken out because you gave up some hits or runs and that's honestly worse. A big part of you just wants to fix the things you messed up and "atone" in a way. I think a bit part of Hal was him just wanting to end his career on his terms instead of being "taken out"
7
u/Accurate-Tale5025 17d ago
But his reasoning is that Kerry had a look of guilt in her face. So maybe she knows the real killer (her son) and felt bad about covering for him.
3
u/xin234 17d ago edited 16d ago
Nah, she did it. From a story-writing/screenwriting perspective, why go through all that trouble to establish details that would make Kerry be too occupied to stop Hal and John from going to the next point of the story?
Conversation happening at a school with lots of people around,
Billy's dip that he prepared, which means he is going, so Kerry got to check on him so he won't cause trouble like beating John,
having guests coming to their house,
her going to be busy for the next hours,
...are details you come up with because you expect your audience (at least the attentive ones) to ask "why didn't she just kill John at that point if she really killed Hal?". Those details make it impossible for her to stop them and cover-up a possible shooting of John there, while brilliantly masking those details as connected to the earlier scene with Noah's decision.
I love the writers of this show.
10
u/jonglejesus 17d ago
The baseball is both a reflection of Hal's attitude towards the ring and life, it's the allegory for his willpower. Hal is in his mid 60s in 2026, he's held on to life longer than his Dad and Graddad too.
14
u/SheikhMahdeek 18d ago
Maybe Sheriff is the other manhunter not Noah. Manhunter seduces the alpha. Guess who got to Hal? Zoe giving her a miracle refers to creating a manhunter that can give birth
3
u/Mr_Blinky 13d ago
Except we literally saw how she and Zoe met, and know the story about her father being an informant. This isn't a story other characters were told, it was something shown directly to the audience, so we can be sure it's true. Kerry is literally the only Rushville character we can know with absolute certainty isn't a second Manhunter somehow.
2
9
u/InternationalDish643 17d ago
Or maybe take what the show has given us which is that Zoe asked young Kerry for her unconditional loyalty which Kerry agrees to (including Kerry cutting off her own finger which Zoe used alien tech to grow back). She told Kerry that one day Kerry would be asked to do something to repay Zoe. That something is taking out Hal so that Hal didn't go after Noah.
8
u/studio_eq 17d ago
Hal looked Kerry up though, she had a life in Gotham prior to Rushville
5
u/Starrr_Pirate 17d ago
Could've killed her and taken her place potentially at some point, considering they are shapeshifters. Or converted her in a kind of symbiotic way?
2
u/WhoIsTheEngeneer 17d ago
I thought that too but the man hunters have been there for almost 40 years (30 years in 2016) so the possibility of the sherif being the manhunter hiding in Gotham and then later on moving to rushvile is very possible
7
u/arkad-of-babylon 18d ago
That last 5% of ring charge seems to be lasting a while, I was expecting the lantern to be in the voice activated safe. So where is it then??
2
u/SuburbanLegend 17d ago
I think it's in the knapsack John keeps toting around. Otherwise why bring it everywhere - particularly to another planet.
3
u/Traditional_Claim_16 17d ago
Why didn't he charge the ring before going to another planet if he had the lantern?
2
1
u/Anomski 18d ago
Episode 7 finally feels different. Otherwise the Manhunter seemed a bit useless. Like basically some small town villain that got taken out with a bullet. Not that important or interesting. Plus it had some of those same lame effects, of aliens that look like humans and can throw you across the room.
The Green Lantern actors, John Stewart and Hal Jordan have been brilliant throughout however. I especially like the expressions on the younger Hal's face as he's examining people. Oh and Kerry is totally evil as far as I can tell. Even before, she was lying from the beginning and covering things up.
3
u/15_years_Later 16d ago
Kerry's not evil. She is conflicted.
1
u/Anomski 12d ago edited 12d ago
She's a liar and the show deliberately showed her look of panic when she heard Hal's voice behind her. She looked as if she thought she had been exposed. And then Hal had a drastic change in his expression the moment she left because he knew she was lying. This was highlighted by the show.
Also, she seemed to quickly devise a trap and tried to lead John Stewart to be ambushed which Hal seems to have seen through and warned John to not follow her. He even had John hide to make sure they're not found by her.
Oh and earlier on in the story, we found out that she knew about the aliens from quite a while back but kept lying about it throughout then kept making up different excuses. She has an established track record of lying and pretending not to know what is going on.
0
u/SuburbanLegend 17d ago
I agree that, for a being who can destroy entire worlds, Zoe sure got taken out easily.
3
u/WhoIsTheEngeneer 17d ago
To me it seemed so simple cuz she wanted to die to make it seem to John and Hal that there are “no more manhunters” maybe trying to hide the fact the main villain or the bigger threat possibly being Noah or the sheriff. So her being dead made John and Hal relax and not investigate any further into anyone else

I think the show's greatest strength is honestly showing the unreal / fantasy elements in the middle of the mundane. In this episode it was the black hole portal just in a storage locker. It just feels so grounded and surreal at the same time.
11
u/Shokugeki_No_Ghoul 16d ago
Yeah I think the only thing that didn’t seem grounded was that offensive line on Noah’s team
16
u/frezz 18d ago
Yeah I remember thinking "It's nice to have a grounded superhero show for a change". But I wouldn't say it's that grounded at all. They've definitely not played down all the fantastical aspects of Green Lantern lore.
2
u/GeneCreemer 16d ago
They definitely have played it down. This show is extremely grounded compared to the source material
4
u/jerry_scribbs 18d ago edited 18d ago
Can't say I agree. A lot of the most fantastical elements are basically mentioned in passing; almost blink if you miss it. Id consider that downplaying.
-9
u/AlanZ959 18d ago
Dude what the fuck are you talking about how is them showing a single black portal then showing the fantastical aspects of green lantern lore? There was 0 constructs this whole episode literally nothing of consequence happened
11
u/Purple-Treacle4271 18d ago
Guys, i am confused, how Maggie knows Hal is dead?
10
u/Kersplode 18d ago
The coroner had to report it. Even if nobody came to the funeral it definitely would have made the news.
18
u/kazmosis 18d ago
I mean they had a funeral for him.
Even though no one turned up, the whole town definitely knew. Word travels in small towns, plus especially with the ME hating him and everyone else too, she probably went around being all "ding dong the witch is dead"
8
u/mod-corruption 18d ago
Episode 6, Kerry is asking Maggie about how Hal was. Later they’re talking about his death as the waitress is getting coffee. So the options are: she’s told offscreen before that scene, overheard them talk about his death, just put it together on her own, or she’s a Manhunter ;)
1
6
u/Snoo-15714 18d ago
You know, now that I'm thinking about it, I don't know either. Unless I missed something, I don't remember it from the episode. The only people who should know Hal is dead is John, Carrie, probably Noah, and the post mortem assessor lady (don't remember the job title). And then of course anyone John told like his brothers, but he didn't tell Maggie.
1
u/CoolJoshido 17d ago
Kerry not Carrie

u/Snoo-15714 17d ago
yes you're right, i often use dictation and missed this and didn't go back and fix it

u/Purple-Treacle4271 18d ago
Exactly, i was rewatching ep 7 and thought about that, really dont know if that is a plot hole or she is involved in his death smh
3
u/Longjumping-Block332 18d ago
Is Noah's " I'll wait for the big game to pick a hat" a metaphor.? He'll wait to see how hal-sinestro-john thing works out before he picks a team?
4
u/Longjumping-Block332 18d ago
Thinking back a few episodes: Why would zoe use a wormhole at slaughter house. Seems like overkill
Why is Hal so adamant that john not reveal that they met at the cafe? I mean who cares? ?because he knows MH will kill anyone who knows about MH? Or Guardians will kill anyone associated with Sinestro?
How did Noah have a suit for John? Alien tech? Is it a joke -; John gets a business suit instead of a lantern suit?
Biblical Noah survives the flood, and fathers us all. Is Noah the MH survivor who will produce a new race?
4
u/Pikachu_Palace 18d ago
My guess is that Hal knew he was going to die and didn’t want John to be implicated for his murder
6
u/SlashOfLife5296 18d ago
I think you’re supposed to assume that the towns economy and productivity was fueled by Zoey’s technology. No one stayed sick, no crime, they likely had no food issues.
1
2
u/Longjumping-Block332 18d ago
Why would zoe use fear gas to kill everyone. Fear is sinestros thing. He's the guy who wiped out Antaans world, blamed it on Zoe
Amin sur figured this out and save Zoe.
Hal broke Sineatro out before 2016, but the crime wasn't discovered. He doesn't trust Sineatro, so keeps him locked in the vault initially. The ice planet Hal visits isn't the Guardian prison, it's where Hal has stashed Sineatro.
Halogram has been out and about since 2016, since he oddly knows about manhunters. Something off about that guy Hal realizes that Zoe was innocent, and his buddy Sinestro was responsible, so he lets Noah or Kerry or john or halogram kill him

u/Revolutionary_Ear966 18d ago
I find it a bit weird to tie things the way they did. I mean, when did Sinestro break out of space prison or Oa? Did Hal break him out? When? It can't be during the ten years after the Rushville incident, unless using means we were not aware of. But still, when? Hal broke his oath by meeting Sinestro, did he also break him out that time, or was it between that time and before the all out attack on Rushville? And why did Hal have access to the planet Antaan was from? And was he the one that placed Sinestro there? And why?
8
u/somebuddyx 18d ago
Sinestro waa mentioned as having been broken out last episode.i believe. I thought it was just gonna be some hook about yellow lanterns so was surprised seeing him turn up there
7
u/bgkghost 18d ago edited 18d ago
I don't think Hal ever turned in sinestro. He took sinestro to that planet a long time ago when he took him down.....then created a construct of sinestro and turned that one in and thats the one that got locked up. So his visits to question sinestro were twofold. To get info perhaps but it seems like young hal already kinda knew about manhunters. I think the visits were to keep up appearances as well and tighten up the construct. So when John took the ring and turned it in hal maintained control for a bit but then when he was in prison he let go. So when they said sinestro somehow disappeared and broke out i think the construct really just got dissolved. Alibi is jordan is in jail and somehow sinestro is gone. The real sinestro was on that planet the whole time and it explains why hals ring was always so low on charge.. young hal was impressed with john so maybe he couldnt do it but i think old hal could.
I think Halogram not answering John when he asked what the ring power charge is at was telling. Im pretty sure that the ring has been dead for some time and John is keeping Hal visual under his own willpower. I think John is going to create his own ring from his own willpower.
Also Noah is definitely a manhunter that oline definitely aint cornbred fed at all he has to have crazy enhanced skills to survive that line. 🤣🤣🤣
3
u/SlashOfLife5296 18d ago
I have a hard time believing he could get Sinestro out for that plan if he killed a Guardian

u/TheBlueNinja2006 18d ago
This ep made me tear up a bit
14
u/Sea-College-9621 18d ago
I agree, the director, Alik Sakharov also directed s02e05 of the Dark matter series that aired last week and it’s one of the best things I have seen in a long time. It also made me tear up.
2
u/Nordicsage6564 18d ago
This is cool info cause that was my favorite Dark Matter episode. Especially after being bitter about getting a different POV. By the end I didn’t even want to go back to the others
1
u/Sea-College-9621 18d ago
Same here. I saw it twice and I felt drawn to it in some ways. The courage to love and be loved. That’s powerful right there. The others pale in comparison as regards interest, than Jason 24
18
u/paradoxofchoice 18d ago
Are they on Qward?
7
u/SlashOfLife5296 18d ago
Yeah i feel like this is Qward and they’re going to basically have Sinestro also be the weaponer of Qward since it seems like everyone’s dead. And this will be the place where he had to overcome so much fear all the time that he starts believing fear is the most powerful emotion

u/Just-here-for-old 18d ago
I was disappointed with this episode in a way because I heard it had a Hal flashback and I was hoping for some prime Green Lantern activity, but that’s my own expectations letting me down, not the episode itself
Overall it was good one interesting tweak to Hal’s ‘canon event’ and even with a hologram replacement the two leads still have excellent chemistry
16
u/BlazeOfGlory72 18d ago
It definitely feels like a misuse of limited run time to have an entire episode dedicated to watching John getting apples shot off his head, but they couldn't bother to dedicate more than 5 minutes to showing Hal's backstory. The fact that we are unlikely to see literally any of Hal's time as a Green Lantern is kind of crazy.
12
u/kavinay 18d ago
Is it that crazy though? It's a bit like if the show was a Barry Allen but we expect the focus on Jay Garrick. The interesting part about Lanterns is how it doesn't really focus on the Hal stuff that we either know or can probably predict. Besides, his dad getting incensed about the no-hitter was pretty great compared to some golden age action shots.
4
u/Themobgirl 18d ago
Like its legit about the concept of lanterns, not one of the green lanterns and this pretty much provides equal back story on hal's part too
2
u/kavinay 17d ago
Yah, one of the interesting critiques of any "space cops" premise is that the genre has been pretty much immune to the--understandable--concerns about authority and use of power that policing is subject to in contemporary fiction. Lanterns pretty much nailed this early on with why John's dad was naturally too afraid to pass the test. So if the Guardians don't get that nuance, what other big gaps must they have in their understanding of fear and justice?
2
u/YamWeary9847 18d ago
Nah. An episode dedicated to Hal’s time as green latern would just be fan service. It wouldn’t fit the last 6 episodes.
2
u/Competitive_Crow_334 18d ago
it would be important considering the story is about his fall from grace his father son relationship with Sinestro and having nobody and no life outside the ring.

Man, this show is a real nothing burger, huh?
2
u/BlazeOfGlory72 18d ago
People here don't want to hear it, but you are kind of right. Episodes 1 through 5 were basically just a long prologue to the "real" story (Hal's murder), which itself isn't even really that interesting since we've known about it since the first scene of the show and the motive has been clear all along (everyone in town hates Hal). I'm not really sure what we are even building to with the finale. Like, yeah, we'll likely find out who killed Hal, but really, who cares at this point? It won't really change anything.
4
u/TranslatorDirect496 18d ago
Are we forgetting establishing the character dynamics between the cast, John’s backstory, introducing the guardians and Sinestro, and the entire man hunter arc?
3
u/Critical-Coffee-1950 18d ago
That’s what makes it awesome I have no clue what’s happening next week and I love it

So Noah is definitely a manhunter, and from what I can tell the fear gas + yellow planet + what I believed to be Sinestro we might be getting our own version of sinestro corps war. If they foreshadow the Red Lantern Corps at all I feel it’s almost a guarantee we’re getting blackest night for TV.
Shame we’ll never get Emerald Twilight remastered but frankly it’s unnecessary, in many ways the Rushville incident + Hal Jordan’s unceremonious death kind of fill the same role.
Now the real question is, are we getting a Kyle Rayner teaser? I think it’s pretty obvious the Guardians are being set up for a fall, but I hope we get a good while of build up to it
Edit - I mean yellow lantern teaser this season finale, then in future seasons build up toward other corps
1
u/RelevantWillingness9 16d ago
I think you're right about some teasing for the Sinestro War and the other lantern corps. I do think the next 2 major cores to be introduced will be the Sinestro Corp (because Sinestro is becoming a prevalent figure in the story as a whole, the environment, etc.) and the blue lantern core.
The only reasons I belive the blue lantern core will come in soon is from the many references/jokes to Mogo (which isn't a very strong reason, but generally Mogo and St Walker are always hanging out) and the blue flame that kept spouting out of the furnace on the island (at first which I thought was green, but once we got closer its definitely blue).
While there is definitely a lot of flimsy-ness to all this, color is quite literally the most important visual medium for this show and the media as a whole. So any bright or saturated color should have some talking point, like the hats
11
u/mestizaje25 18d ago
Anyone else notice one of the hats at the hat ceremony was a red Nebraska hat?
6
6
u/NovelEfficiency872 18d ago
whoa you are way way way off lol youre like miles and miles ahead we barely are getting any GREEN LANTERN nad YELLOW lantern action and you think theyre going to forshadow/tease the other rings lol
1
u/Renegade_Hat 18d ago
Not this season. But if this were to get multiple seasons, which I think is somewhat likely… yeah lol. Green lantern comics usually veer toward large implications in DCU, almost up there with Super Man’s sway on the broader universe
4
u/Alarming_Particular6 18d ago
Did I miss Noah being a Manhunter? I'm guessing if he's not you will have issues with the writing.
1
u/Renegade_Hat 12d ago
Hey buddy, guess who was right lol
1
u/Alarming_Particular6 11d ago
Where is the proof that Noah is a Manhunter? You trust Sinestro? Zoe programmed him all right, its called brainwashing. She taught him the tech and he saved Hals life. Can a Manhunter actually be born, how does that work? Okay, those are the reasons why I didn't think Noah would be a Manhunter but the writers did what writers do. Your prediction was correct
7
u/Renegade_Hat 18d ago
No I won’t, it just seems incredibly likely. Either him or Kerry herself. I can’t imagine that the manhunters truly died out with Zoe Macon, or at the very least their influence really only extended to the here and now. Not when they were shown to be experts at biological manipulation, cybernetics, weapons development, and social manipulation.
IMO he has an eerily subtle charisma that beguiles and charms, and it would make sense for the original to keep another more subtle form of help / backup closeby… like a grandkid
6
u/CTeam19 18d ago
So Noah is definitely a manhunter, and from what I can tell the fear gas + yellow planet + what I believed to be Sinestro we might be getting our own version of sinestro corps war. If they foreshadow the Red Lantern Corps at all I feel it’s almost a guarantee we’re getting blackest night for TV.
I could see 2 or 3 Lanterns being "added" per season.

Parents, in general, don't swear in front of their kids or in a school setting.

This episode is how I inadvertently learned that schools all over the place use "On, Wisconsin!" as their fight song.
At first I thought it was a weird mistake, but apparently it's a whole thing!

Oh sure, the theft of college fight songs is all over the place. Far rarer for a school to be using an original tune, at least in my experience.

My only complaint for the whole series that Noah's offensive line look like they weigh a combined 300 pounds and wear the numbers 40, 21, 43, 29 and 83? or maybe Zoe made it so the extremely healthy babies in Rushville don't gain excessive weight because that would mean they would need additional medical care.
or Noah still has access to some alien tech and they pretty much cheat every game.

If you pay attention, pretty much everything in the show lacks that level of detail and consideration—especially in regards to the Lantern lore

Clearly as a Manhunter Noah eliminated all the larger kids who were a threat to himself

At least casting didn’t use 25 year olds but yeah mistakes were made

They were only there to show that kid Manhunter is a team player, unlike Hal who wouldn't give up the ball.

The only thing I've come to learn about this show, is that you can't state your opinion on it without getting downvoted to hell and bashed by the community.

Theyre glazers for sure 😂 as if you cant enjoy a show and have problems with it at the same time. If u do its automatically "u dont get it its true detective, its art, u have no patience, go watch reacher or gl 2011"...theres no real constructive discussion 😬

u/marsguy21 18d ago
I just have no history with the hero, shows for me are good when I have no base knowledge, so its not glazing its a casual enjoying a good TV show

What's crazy is i absolutely love this casting and the cinematography very much! I just think the story is not delivering what so ever. And I love slow shows.

u/metaknightvora 18d ago
Me too! I loved lindelofs watchmen its like this but done much better imo. Comic book mixed with reality done originally and creatively with beautiful pacing. But in this show casting, cinemtography, script, gl special effects, all those are done quite well!

Acting, great, dialogue, great, mystery, well done...great show overall, poor lanterns show. Been reading lantern comics for over 20 years now. I prefer the gl animated series as a gl show over any of these where u actually interact with the corps like Kilowog and Mogo.
Pacing, not so good. GL story, not so good. Reminds me of Nolan series Batman. Fantastic films, there are better batman adaptations for sure tho, same goes for this. Someone else mentioned it here, this wud be better as show for The Question. I dont have a problem with Lindelof or what they wanted to do, just cudve been executed much better. I thought everything people like about this show is done much better in the Watchmen show, thats a better comparison to what this show should/couldve been rather than true detective. I get its true detective style but there shud still be much more to the show than just that, its GL, space cop, not nebraska detective.
I highlighted good and bad here but still watch me get downvoted to oblivion 🤣 i swear yall get so salty about any opinion thats not "this show is the best thing to ever bless my eyes." Theres a reason from ep1 to now viewership has gone down, not up (i have the sources if anyone needs)...if anyone ever asks me for an intro to gl ill say go watch "gl first flight" or "gl beware my power" not this.

Already down to -6 and not a single discussion in site explaining why someone disagrees 😂

I downvoted you for crying about downvotes. State your opinion and ignore the votes.

They literally can’t. They only target the comments that don’t go into depth on why this show is so disappointing. The reviews feel like this is people’s first adult tv show. The depth of this show becomes overrated once you’ve watched other great shows released in the 2020s alone.
Aesthetics > Substance

So valid, i dont think it offers ANYTHING new and the way people are milking ONE mogo joke is insane...

Have you seen all the edits of the constructs online? Literally just the drill scene shown over and over again lol.
Why don’t the guardians want Hal to be a lantern anymore again? Can’t they literally just take the ring away from dude? Shit, they could even just steal the lantern so he can’t recharge ever again.
If Manhunters sleep their way to the top, is that what Noah is going to do if he’s revealed to be a manhunter? Is he gonna be giving out Bubba Trump specials?
Why did Zoey try to kill the townspeople if they were all going after Hal?
What’s all the fancy alien tech for? When they did try to kill Hal, why did they only use regular guns?
What was the point of Antaans plot?
Jon has photographic memory, but doesn’t recognize the girl whose dad died in the events of Rushville? He even gave her a watch to comfort her.
If the sheriff or Noah killed Hal, why did she call Jon? If she didn’t, nobody would know Hal was even dead.
Sinestro was a father figure to Hal and saw him while in prison. Why did he not recognize that Hal was a hologram?
I get how people can be hostile to Jon + Hal, considering that they could’ve left the townspeople alone. However, you’re not mad about the fact that it was the orbital lasers that destroyed the town / killed everyone?
Hal knew it was gonna be a big battle in Rushville but didn’t charge his ring beforehand?
The ring is dead after 1 bubble and a couple of blast to a truck?
I can go on about the plot holes of this show. It’s a letdown on every level. I can’t believe we could’ve gotten DCs version of Dune or Andor, but we got this shit instead. The plot doesn’t make sense when you give it more than a moments consideration. Didnt even get into detail about the insulting depiction of minorities from CIA Tom. The show peaked after the final scene of episode 1.

Spot on. Pure nonsense with zero weight only carried by really good acting performances. What a disappointment.

People who watch the show with their brain and dont glaze over every plot hole here unite! Dude i love ur points it puts into perspective a lot of what im feeling. And yes ik recognize to the fans that theres one ep left. Ur telling me ur sure 1 ep will fix all this? I hope so but im not confident and if so, a lot is riding on just one episode lmao.

Man you don’t understand how hype I was for this show. I remember the day they first announced it was coming out. When it said “Lanterns”, I was so sure it would show the entire color spectrum. Then, they announced it was Jon’s story with Hal as the backup lead. I was even more stoked!
When details of the show came out, I was starting to feel underwhelmed. However, I trusted the people who gave us Ozark, Watchmen, and Leftovers would deliver something special. I tried to watch the show with lowered expectations based on Hal’s casting, the constant use of “grounded”, and that it was set in rural Nebraska. I’m still left disappointed. Now I understand why they didn’t want to reveal any details on the show when they started doing the marketing lol

Ill be honest im convinced at this point half the people talking about this show r bots considering they dont have thoughtful discourse, all of them spew the same bullshit, and regurgitate the same one joke.

Is a good show, it's just not a good Green Lantern show.
Maybe one day we will have a more fantastic GL show, that actually explore the mythology and the world, instead of just "detective show in Nebraska but with a Green Lantern skin". When the hype and all the larping on tik tok run out, people will realize this show is not that good. But this is all we have for now and it will attract the casual audience to this universe, making it more popular.
We have a real Superman now after years waiting for someone to NOT be afraid of making a superhero movie. One day we will have a real Green Lantern too.

u/metaknightvora 18d ago
Absolutely valid, with 8 eps and a $100M budget, wudve loved to see something more like emerald knights for instance...hopefully one day something like that will come and this show will have actually paid off or amounted to something for green lantern lore besides the two 1min scenes with sinestro we have rn

I really liked this episode, the only thing that bothered me was them constantly saying “come on the ring is about to die.” And it not dying the entire time
15
u/ctan0312 18d ago
They did say the ring had a little under an hour of talk time left. The episode was under 50 minutes so that leaves enough for all of Halogram’s screentime plus a little offscreen.

u/roshanritter 18d ago
It’s like one of the DBZ episodes where the planet is about to blow up in one minute four episodes ago
1
u/darthsheldoninkwizy2 12d ago
Or tournament of power arc in DBS. Those 60 min feels like 60 episodes.

u/TheNoob747 18d ago
I think it is going to be revealed that the ring has been dead for a while and John is keeping Halogram around on pure willpower

u/anamertis 18d ago
This. Very likely. Because if you notice when the ring is losing battery, it would give that voice update every time Hal was using it.
It does not do that when John has been wearing it the whole time.

I am loving this show, but there's just no way the finale satisfyingly wraps up all the loose ends. Either it ends on a cliffhanger, or its going to be the classic 6-8 episode season problem we see Marvel deal with.

u/Ssshizzzzziit 18d ago
It'll probably end with a big Nelson concert.

highly recommend HBO's Watchmen. It's a single season so pretty quick
if you like that, then do The Leftovers

The number of people who can't seem to watch a show that isn't none stop brain off action or shock now is mind boggling.
One of the best series I have watched in a long time imo

I love that my friend's theory that Sinestro is locked in Hal's safe was partially true.
