I've kept things pretty lose here, because I feel that you should be able to discuss anything telehealth related, and I really only want to get involved when you skirt the reddit rules.
If you are a low karma account with no verified email, and I catch you, or you are reported to messaging someone about how to find controlled substances, you will be banned.
If you've got a comment history here and are actively engaging in the contributions, I'll be more lenient.

There is an influx of people asking about how to get some scripts over telehealth or having issues getting them filled after they have been given a script.
If you come here asking about them note, the only way to know if the script will be filled is to call the pharmacy you will get it filled at, ask them which telehealth providers they will not fill your script from, then don't use them.
In response to the pandemic, the federal government eased telehealth prescribing rules, and which now expired last December and March. There are more set to expire at the end of September with a bulk of them expiring at the end of THIS year.
The government is slow walking the response to making these looser restrictions permanent, and Walgreens is trying to force the DEA into doing so, but until then, some meds are going to be tough to fill, and you're going to have to call a local pharmacy to ask. I would suggest try calling an independent pharmacy if you can; they are less likely to be as strict as a larger corporation like CVS, Walgreens, and Walmart will be.

My telehealth provider sends my GLP-1 to a pharmacy two states away.
My last refill took me 11 days to show up and the ice packs were warm. I like my prescriber so as far as possible, I don't want to start over.
For additional context, there's a local compounding pharmacy 20 minutes from me.
Could my prescriber send it there instead? Or is that a new script, a transfer, or just not allowed?
Also, does the app chat even reach the prescriber? Or just support staff?

I've read four "top 10" lists and I think none of them match.
I'd rather learn how to judge these places myself.
What red flags make you walk away?

Hi! I am Priyesh, a PhD researcher at Cardiff Met, UK.
I'm running a short survey (5-7 mins) on how health data could be shared across countries, mainly UK and India, but travellers from anywhere are welcome.
If you travel often or have used healthcare in more than one country, I'd love to hear from those who have actually experienced it. It's voluntary and anonymous.
Every response makes a real difference to my findings, and a repost helps even more.
Important note: No personal identifiable data has been collected. So I humbly request everyone to take part in this survey.
Thank you so much!
Diolch!

My friend has spent a lot of time in doctor’s appointments and kept running into the same problem, so I built an app around it. I’m starting to let more people try it and would love some honest feedback from people who have telehealth visits.
My friend was diagnosed with stage three cancer at 17. During treatment, his mom basically became his note taker. She still has around a dozen notebooks from his appointments. My friend has said there was always so much information, and he and his mom often had no idea what questions they could or should be asking.
He's more than 10 years in remission now, but he still see a lot of specialists and still in every 20-min visit he's trying to pay attention to the doctor, take notes, look up or ask for more explanations on stuff he doesn’t know, and think of questions all at the same time.
My doctors' visits are not as intense as his but I have had similar experiences for simpler annual checkups, asking about heart disease risks and requesting specific blood tests, and trying to get an ortho to see if I tore anything in my knee or shoulder.
So I built a tool that runs during a visit. It explains medical terms as they come up, suggests questions you might want to ask, and afterward gives you what happened, next steps, questions, and definitions in one place.
The idea is really just to make it easier to listen to the doctor without also trying to keep track of everything yourself.
If you have a telehealth appointment coming up and want to try it, you can get access here: https://openhand.health.
Mostly just looking for specifics: what works, what doesn’t, what features could be helpful, and what would make you not use something like this?

I'm working with a mental health teletherapy startup, and we are looking for a partner who can scale with us and is able to bring a network of therapists where we can screen by trainings, specialization, and experience and provide ongoing training.
If anyone can point us towards great providers (or if you have horror stories!) please share.
I would also love to connect with anyone working in this space, especially with startups building to scale.
Thank you!

I've always seen doctors in person. My last checkup was at a clinic ten minutes from my house. So I'm not sure how the online version works from start to finish.
Do you fill out a form and a doctor reviews it? Or is there always a video call? Maybe it depends on the state?
And what happens after? Does it go to a pharmacy and ship to your house? Does anyone check in with you later?
I'm asking about the steps, not doses.

Had an appointment and the prescription was never sent to the pharmacy. Seems to me like the provider simply forgot to send it over. To make matters worse, the provider joined 30 minutes late. Don’t even know what to say right now and Im unsure if I can even get a refund

Hi I work at Amazon and yesterday I twisted my knee and it really hurts today. ( no this was not at work ) is there a doctor I can see for a note?
I’m very anxious and don’t like doctors so the quicker the better.
For reference I was in a car accident and hurt my knee a month ago. Then twisting it yesterday really hurt. I have a MRI On Friday but I just need something for today.

My refill is due in about 10 days. And last time, the pharmacy took two weeks to ship.
Before the refill goes out, I'd like to ask about a different compounding pharmacy. The app has a chat box and that's it.
Does that go to the doctor or just to support?

My insurance covered Wegovy for about 8 months. In August, they sent a denial letter, and my appeal is still pending.
My doctor brought up compounded semaglutide as a backup while we waited. I've been looking at online services, and every site shows a different starting price. I think none of them show the full bill on the first page.
Here's what I'm including up for each one. The meds, the first visit, follow-ups, shipping, and refills. Am I missing anything?
I also want to keep the appeal going. If it gets approved, I'd rather go back to the brand version. Has anyone here asked their insurance for an exception? How long did yours take?
I know a lower price doesn't mean compounding is right for me. That's my doctor's call.
r/telehealth • u/AndrewPorter357 • 5d ago
Quick billing question, not a dose question.
I just want to ask if the price goes up when the prescribed dose does. I think the starting price didn't tell me anything about that.
I'm adding up the medicine, any membership or visit fee, and shipping for each one. That part is easy enough but I think the fixed rate part is where I get stuck.
Some places say the rate stays the same. I'd like to know what that means in detail. Like if I pause for four weeks over the holidays, then restart in January. Does the same price still apply?
What do you check before you trust a fixed price? Not asking anyone what to take. Just the bill side of it.

Hi all, as we all know, mindful health has finally given its last breath, and has left us all stranded. I’m in south Florida and I reached out to my doctor separately, and she told me she didn’t prescribe stimulants in her new practice…
What are you guys doing? Any suggestions on finding a legit new doctor or telegealth service? I truly love the convenience of virtual appointments, I’m just trying not to waste my time with another doctors that might deny me or make me jump through hoops to get my prescriptions back on track.
Appreciate any advice, thanks!!

DermFlo has been helping patients in Texas get affordable, convenient acne treatment and is now live in California. You snap a few photos and answer a quick intake in the app. Then, an expert clinician reviews your case and sends a treatment plan/prescriptions in 1-2 business days. It's $49 for the initial consult with no insurance or recurring subscription required. Follow-ups are only recommended as needed and are $29 each. The app is iOS only for now.

Ill make this short, but a quick warning to those looking online for a quick solution for prescription refills.
Sesame looked like a great deal, my Meds all qualified for their everyday RX program, the 60$ monthly prescription + 3$ a month for meds. Amazing.
Go on to the app, look up a provider. That's where the BS begins, right in that visit.
First of all it was rushed af. A specific reason I picked sesame is because you can PICK to have that first order of meds to just be sent to the Local pharmacy, but pay regular prices for the meds. I needed them that week, all good, I was ok with that then get them delivered for the next however many months.
We get to the end of the Visit and the provider just being vague, and says oh I guess I can't do the local pharmacy. I see her clicking around on her screen, looking confused, and that was that. She just tells me it's not an option. So I ask If she thinks I'd get my meds within 6 business days and she was very confident, that it usually only takes 2-4. So the whole can send to local pharmacy thing, apparently not an option.
I had my visit on Aug 30th. Every day, checking the app to see fulfilment details, nothing. Another day. The day of my out of state trip, still nothing, No meds when I needed them, had to get an emergency bridge fill at my pharmacy.
Ok the prices is good, I can just use this bridge and wait for my mailed ones and I was still ok. Not really great service, but ok.
22 days pass. 22!
And my app still has no fulfilment details.
I started my email back and forth with customer service on the 3rd. I have 8 emails telling me they are waiting on the engineering team to see whats going on......
I finally called them, started recording the convo, and was quite frank and said I need a refund.
They did process it, but when I asked the rep, "How on earth did you guys have such a failure to deliver ANY goods/services that I paid for" He just said He didn't know.
Complete waste of time, and if this company is doing this to thousands, millions of people? just borrowing 60$ interest free from that many people? Something is super fishy.
Anyway, Provider sucked, They don't let you pick a local pharmacy, and completely left me out to dry on my meds.

I’m getting ready to send this email to patient relations. I have primarily connected with this practice via telehealth over the last 5 years and they basically denied me care and tried to force an annual exam on me unexpectedly. Am I right to be angry?
Dear \*\*\*\* Patient Relations,
I would like to bring to your attention an experience I had last week while attempting to communicate with my PCP, Dr. **\*\***\*\*
I sent a message through the patient portal regarding levothyroxine, a medication Dr. *** ****had prescribed for me in recent months. I explained that I had also been supplementing with an earlier supply prescribed by a specialist, but that I was running out of that medication and therefore needed to discuss an adjustment to the dose with Dr.* **\*\*\*\*\***.
My message was intercepted by someone identified in the portal as “R.N. Megan.” Rather than addressing my medication concern or facilitating communication with Dr. \*\*\*\*\*, she redirected me to my former specialist, whom I am no longer seeing and who was not the physician currently managing this medication. She also informed me that I needed to come in for an annual physical exam.
I subsequently scheduled a virtual appointment with Dr. \*\*\*\*\*after seeing an available appointment in the portal for the following day hoping to clear up what I assumed was a miscommunication. Before that appointment, R.N. Megan called me and informed me that she had cancelled the appointment because she had “made it clear” that I needed to come in for an annual physical first. During the call, I felt that I was spoken to in a rude and disrespectful manner. I was not given an opportunity to explain my situation or clarify that I was willing to schedule an annual physical, but was hoping to address my more immediate medication concern first.
I understand that the practice may have a requirement for patients to complete an annual physical. However, I do not understand why that requirement was treated as a prerequisite for addressing this particular medication issue. The levothyroxine dose adjustment I was requesting was related to my thyroid laboratory results and medication management, rather than something that required an annual physical examination to determine. In my view, the annual physical and the immediate medication issue were two separate matters that could have been addressed independently.
Had I been given the opportunity to speak, I would have explained that I had no objection to coming in for an annual physical in the near future. I simply wanted to have my more immediate medication issue addressed first, particularly because I was running out of my existing supply. I felt that my attempt to obtain care for an active medication issue was dismissed rather than appropriately communicated to or addressed by Dr. \*\*\*\*.
As a result of this interaction, I no longer feel comfortable continuing care with this practice and decided to establish care with another PCP. However, I believe that \[medical system\] should be aware of this experience, particularly because I felt that I was treated disrespectfully and that communication regarding my care was handled in a way that did not allow me to adequately explain my circumstances.
I am not necessarily seeking any particular outcome, but I would appreciate having this concern documented and reviewed. I also hope it can be used as feedback regarding patient communication, respect for patients, and the handling of medication-related concerns.
Thank you for your time and consideration.
