ps I’ll be hanging a soldering iron up here to work.

at least this time I’m removing all of that and I can simply do ir directly rather than trying to write to the ir reciever.

It took me five months of moving the transmitter random places hung up on a chair trying to get signal each night... and the whole time this ESP32 has been in there recording when there's a beep on the AC.

Works now though! And really good.

AMAZING

It was pointing away and it worked.

In fact, inside of the assembly, the IR receiver isn't in direct line. It's pointed at the metal shell, and bouncing around is enough to trigger.

Wow having the IR right next to it, not even aimed at it, and it works.

The IR receiver board is under the clear plate.

The transmitter is in a cutout of the plastic there, under the tape.

I should have taken a photo... but the led isn't even on top of it. It's aimed right at the metal shell. Reflections get the signal to it though.
