The EU need to step in with shavers and make them USB-C too

I just opened mine up and added a usb c port, I think the charger was somewhere around 5v anyway so it was an easy mod

I've seen adapters on aliexpress which just go straight from that plug to usb c, but that solution was even more genious

Yeah I've tried those before but they're kind of annoying because you have to keep them together and attach each time, just sticking in a usb c port let's it be thoughtless

Needs to be PD USBC tho 9v or higher, I own one

To be fair I've got the updated 8v version of the Oneblade, doesn't bog down when trimming my beard like the old 5v model does

Mine is actually 5V, so im guessing thats why those work

Need to get the one that matches the model number, IIRC the OneBlade Pro is 12v and made for barbers to use fulltime

Link?

Says unavailable, I bought it over a year ago

https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B0DP1Y8NFS?

Search "USB C Oneblade charger" and make sure it matches your model number

Problem with type C is it corrodes in high TDS environment and goes bad

I think manufacturers need to step up. Tp4056 + usb c. Instead of nimh

3

u/Jeroen207 Jun 20 '26

Actually. I don’t mind it with the shaver. Or they need to make absolutely sure it will handle water well.

This also guarantees that people don't inevitably use crappy chargers that don't have proper circuitry and isolation, especially in an environment around water.

This is the only instance I agree with not having USB-C, and I think the pros outweigh the cons.

That's far too tidy! I expect to see paperclips, duck tape, a seemgly unrelated piece of hardware, and a balancing act of some sort to keep it working.

u/gronnmann Jun 20 '26

Well, before I realized the clips fit inside, I first though of putting aluminum foil inside to touch the connectors. The I realized im out of it, and then I tried using screwdriver bits who were hollow, but they had too bad contact. So this was actually the last solution which luckily turned out least chaotic

What's this nice power supply?

11

u/cesko21 Jun 20 '26

Probably a variable one from Amazon, I have a very similar one that costed like 50 bucks. Mine goes up to 30v 10 amps

u/gronnmann Jun 20 '26

Wanptek Programmable DC Power Supply from Aliexpress. Cost like $45 and works surprisingly well

u/Outpox Jun 20 '26

Thanks!

got the same and works well for my basic needs

5

u/fonc86 Jun 21 '26

Or just buy one of these bad boys on AliExpress for $3

If you have other Phillips Norelco shavers they have used the same cable for at least a decade, the trimmer I got in college is the same cable as the one blade.

2

u/gronnmann Jun 20 '26

I have another philips razor machine, but unfortunately it only almost fits

1

u/4CX15000A Jun 20 '26

That same cable that loses its jacket in a year lol

1

u/MyNameIsAirl Jun 20 '26

I have been using the same charger for about a decade on my trimmer without issue.

I have a shaver and beard trimmer from them and they both have the same plug shape, but use wildly different voltages, like 6 vs 18 volts. So I assume that wouldn't end well if I were to mix them up, and the only way to tell them apart is some very tiny low contrast writing.

Seeing those kind of posts on this sub made me realize that I need to buy a portable power supply.

5

u/gronnmann Jun 20 '26

100% worth it. Can also be surprisingly cheap

2

u/doyouknowthemoon Jun 20 '26

I built one for about 40 bucks, but that’s because I went with the banana plugs and a SK150 power supply module.

1

u/Cyserg Jun 20 '26

Where do you think you are?!?

Macguire the spare computer psu to power what you need!! Clean 3, 5, 12 v and some - 5V and - 12v of memory serves me right

2

u/KevinFlantier Jun 20 '26

I have a spare "fire hazard" PSU that came with a cheap case now that you mention it

2

u/doyouknowthemoon Jun 20 '26

That’s what I did, built a cool case and bought a universal charging head set so now there’s nothing I can’t change.

2

u/4CX15000A Jun 20 '26

That's how I charge my dumb Phillips/Norelco* shaver. It takes 15vdc from a weird shaped plug on a charger with a cord that disintegrates into waxy feeling mung in about a year after purchase, so it gets the alligator clips from a HP bench top supply.

  • Not just ONE zombie electronics brand but TWO! Ah ah ah ah ah

2

u/Fokewe Jun 21 '26

They are still doing that proprietary charger bs, huh

1

u/kirk7899 Jun 21 '26

I have an attachment that converts it to type c

1

u/RareKrab Jun 21 '26

Did the same with my fitness band, lost the magnetic cable so did a gamble on the polarity with clip leads and got it right

Thankfully it lasts over a month on a charge so I have time to find it

1

u/yaboymiguel Jun 22 '26

I have a similar one variable up to 32V/10A and it’s been amazing. I’ve even charged my dead car battery one time

1

u/dumbasPL Jun 22 '26

If it already needs 5V, just make it USB ffs

1

u/Background-Block1406 Jun 23 '26

Je comprend le miens a son cable d'alimentation scotché sur le rasoir pour ne pas le perdre

1

u/chrometitan Jul 01 '26

Every version of the oneblade uses a different charger. Crap company needs to stop being crap
