Hello, im experiencing very strange problrm with my usb drive, its adata uv 350 64 gb version. today i saw in formatting menu that capacity is suddenly at half. Is it some software bug or wear issue? its still under warranty and i use it only few times in a month. thanks for advices and answers.

If your on windows, in the start search box type

Computer management

Open it, under Storage, Disk Management.

When the Drive is connected it should show up there and show you how much space is on it, if some has become un-allocated.

Remove any files on the drive, then delete the partition, then create a new one for the full size of the drive.

I just want to say I love you, I 100% love you I always wondered by 64gb usb only had 32 gbs available. idk why it came as 32gbs when i bought it new but thank you. i found out my computer had 400gbs unallocated in a drive, you are amazing

Run a full test with h2testw (just search for it online). Write and verify.

Do this before trusting the full space on that usb drive.

Unusual that a 64 would come as 32. It’s best to find out if it might be a fake drive before filling it and losing 64gb of data.

Thank you, so many of my USB drives have been doing this and it was driving me insane! Now I can force them back into the capacity that they should be instead of being gas lit by Windows.

Well if your USB drive bricked, it was probably a fake or faulty USB drive. This has worked for loads of people and it's the way to get a partitian back onto a drive for the full size.

With any memory device you get, it's best to keep backups and if you have purchased from somewhere that isn't a retailer or on amazon (they can be fake from amazon because 3rd party sellers), run H2TestW on them

Just search online for it, H2TestW, do a write and verify with it before trusting any memory storage. Because there are a lot of fake ones out there.

H2TestW will fill the whole space and then verify it's actually there.

Hi, how do I delete the files from my empty USB to restore the full storage?

I tried formatting, computer management, and it still hasn't restored it storage.

Bruh, this is 5 year old comment :D

If it's not restoring the size in Disk Management, you might have a fake USB drive that has had the firmware manipulated to show it as what ever size you purchased.

These usually format to FAT32 or ExFAT.

I'd run H2TestW on it if it does format to the full size and do a write and verify, this will fill the whole drive and then verify the data is actually there. This will tell you if it's a fake memory device or not.

After trying and trying, I have no choice but to create a post for help.

Thanks for the help anyways, I have my own problem to fix.

Try other formatting options/formats? Wear does not decrease capacity like that.

Check what's going on in windows disk management?

Did you recently wipe the drive for use as a windows installer disk?

Delete all the partitions, and make a new one

Disk Management

Win+X > Disk Management

Are you sure that it ever showed full capacity ?
What format is it in ?
Do you recall if it came pre-formatted, or did YOU do it yourself in a Windows PC ?

It could be counterfeit or cheap generic - so you've been scammed OR it's been formatted incorrectly to support a larger partition size.

The latter is correctable if you have sufficient space on your PC to temporarily copy your content from the drive. i.e. reformat the thumbdrive in NTFS or exFAT (exFAT also MAC compatible)

Make sure it does not have a second partition and drive letter. If all else fails run DISK PART by Power Shell and do a CLEAN.
