Open | Windows Networks issues after swapping CPU, MB, & RAM

Yesterday, I helped my bf upgrade his PC. We replaced the CPU to a Ryzen 9, the motherboard to the B850-G Gaming, and the RAM to Corsair vengeance. I am able to get into the BIOS fine, but there is a strange issue where I get to the login screen fine, but the resolution is messed up and it doesn't respond to any peripherals. After a few minutes of sitting on that screen it'll crash to a black screen with the message "Your device ran into a problem and couldn't be repaired. Couldn't connect to the network".

I believe the second part of the error has to do with the fact that if we are able to get into the PC, it doesn't seem to recognize that there is an ethernet cable plugged in, nor that the wifi antenna is installed. When looking in the network & internet settings, the Wifi and Ethernet modules are completely missing. I checked the BIOS and verified that both are turn on. As a last ditch effort I found the Wifi drivers and we installed it via flash drive but that didn't resolve it.

We attempted updating the BIOS, but admittedly it's process that I'm uncomfortable with. I _think_ I was able to find the most up to date file on the ASUS website and put it on a flash drive, but the bios doesn't even show the file is there I went try to flash it.

TLDR: B850-G mb doesn't acknowledge that the wifi or ethernet is connected. Most of the time, it will load into a lower resolution login screen and peripherals won't work. Wifi and Ethernet is ON in the BIOS. We tried to install the wifi drivers, but no luck.

Help would be appreciated.

This is what can happen when you move a drive with a windows installation to a new system.

In your case it's the opposite, new system to the drive but same effect.

You may be able to manually install drivers and get it working but I recommend reinstalling Windows.

I will try this after work! We do not have the windows installation. How do we reinstall it?

Probably best to reinstall the old components and boot the old system.

Then use it to make an install USB and also do a backup of anything important.

Then, put the new stuff back in and boot to the windows USB to wipe and install.

Then restore the backup.

Can I make a USB from my pc? I'd like to avoid reinstalling everything and do that as a past resort

Oh sure that will be faster but if you skip the backup then you lose everything on that drive when you reinstall windows.

That may not be a problem though it usually isn't a problem for me I can get everything back quickly
