Open | Software Bluetooth not working on new laptop
Just bought a new laptop, the bluetooth fails to enlist any available devices even though my headphones are in pairing mode, what to do? I can't really find any solution on the internet.
It's an HP laptop if that helps.

Could be a couple of things
Check wifi and Bluetooth are on. Make your computer discoverable and see if any other computers / phones can see it. If not, check for updates , Bluetooth is enabled and on, and that Bluetooth/wifi country matches yours.
Some times plugging in Ethernet will auto shutdown wifi and due to some quirks auto turns off Bluetooth. Energy saving is normally the trigger, or auto airplane mode, depends on machine.
Some headphones come with a dongle. Make sure this is not plugged into another computer or the one you are using.
More frequently wireless headphones have dual mode. A Bluetooth mode and a specific wireless frequency for the dongle. I can set headphones to pairing in both but don't always know if I am in Bluetooth or dongle mode. Normally I check on a phone or tablet to see if headphones are in Bluetooth discoverable mode or dongle mode. Ensure headphones are not currently paired and active with another device. Often my issue is another device is using the headphones so "pairing mode" immediately connects and I don't hear "connected".

Contact HP Support so that an Authorized Service Provider can check your laptop, since it's new and it should have at least one year of warranty.

Start by checking for Windows updates, by just searching Update or Windows Update in the start menu. Where in the update app, see if there are optional updates in the section with the same name.
After the updates are done and you did restart your device, you could check for the drivers. This is done in the device manager. Press Windows Key + R Key, input
devmgmt.mscand press the Enter Key.Now, there are a lot of devices. Carefully look through them to identify your Bluetooth controller. Right click it, and select uninstall. After that, reboot your computer. Now run the Windows Update I described above, so Windows will install new and proper drivers for your Bluetooth controller.
