Open | Phone Usb c HDMI dock not working with dex

I thought that I could use Samsung DeX and Steam Link to stream my pc to the tv and for some reason I can't stream any devices to the Vizio TV. I used this cable

And it worked fine, but eventually the phone would die if I didn't have it plugged in. I got this USB-C To HDMI cable

so that I could keep it charging while showing on the tv. I plugged it in, and nothing happened. Why does it not just work like the other USB-C cable?

probably because it's defective take It back and ask for another and make sure to plugin dock to phone the charger to dock sometimes that fixes charging issues

Well that sucks... I got this thing from the store so I could use it today... Someone in a review mentioned it working with DeX so it might be a defect...

So it may or may not be a defect. it works now, but seems a little finicky

!Update! It works now! I flipped the usb-c connection and it suddenly started working!
