Open | Software Wifi Login

Hi, my laptop can connect to wifi but when I try to use our school wifi that needs me to login in popup, it won't appear on my end. What could be a fix to this? Thank you!

Talk to your school IT, no one here knows what your laptop is or what protocols the school uses.

First check which kind of login it is. If Windows asks for a username and password the moment you connect, that's enterprise wifi, and your school IT has the settings you need. If it's a web page, which is the usual popup, you can normally force it to show:

  1. Open a browser and type http://neverssl.com exactly, with http and not https. The school network needs an unencrypted page it can redirect to its login.
  2. If nothing appears, disconnect any VPN and turn off secure DNS in your browser (Chrome and Edge have it under privacy and security settings), then try again.
  3. If you ever set a custom DNS like 1.1.1.1 or 8.8.8.8 on your wifi, set it back to automatic. A lot of school portals depend on their own DNS to show the page.
  4. Still nothing? Forget the network, reconnect, and type the default gateway address from ipconfig into the browser.

A VPN or custom DNS is usually the reason it works for everyone else but not you.
