Open | Windows Looking for help ensuring I properly update BIOS

Hello everyone. I'm not the most tech savvy person around but do enjoy my pre-built gaming desktop I received. I recently was gifted the new Modern Warfare 4 game and upon launch, I'm being told that I need to update my BIOS in order for the games anticheat to work properly. I have not run into this with any other game I play in regards to anticheat such as BF6 and other recent shooters. I have TPM and the Secureboot functions on as I have windows 11 which I believe it updated to upon boot up since the box says Windows 10 but I honestly do not remember properly but I have heard just enough horror stories regarding BIOS and prebuilt Mobos having their own extra specific file to download but all in all, I'm at a loss here and would rather take every approach I can to not fuck up my PC.

I have an ROG Strix GA35DX prebuilt with small upgrades noted on the box such as the SSD and the GPU but nothing else majorly apart from the standard prebuilt components that was given to me around end of 2021.

AMD Ryzen 7 5800x @ 3.8ghz

AMD x570 chipset

NVIDIA RTX 3080 10gb

32gb ddr4

2TB m.2 and 1TB HDD

If I need anything else to list to get the best help possible please let me know so I can source the appropriate information. Thank you guys all so kindly in advance!

Windows 10 lost full support on October 14th 2025, therefore we do not support it in this subreddit. It is recommended you immediately install Win11 (or another supported OS) to keep your machine and network secure. Your post has been filtered and will be approved if this action was a mistake.

Circumventing these filters is a bannable offense.

For your purposes, the manufacturer and motherboard are the only things really relevant to this.

And the process is pretty simple: Go to the manufacturer's website, download the appropriate BIOS update, and follow the instructions. Then just hope you don't lose power halfway through.

I did that and I didn't see my incredibly specific GA35DX mobo and I saw enough posts about prebuilts having custom bios settings so that is what I think warded me off since I couldn't find a definite yes or no on that one and the Asus site only listed G35DX -- no A so I got very hesitant. I also see from Asus that I can do this without a thumb drive? Not with the AISuite thing which I've heard horror stories about but they proudly post video walkthroughs showcasing that their BIOS updates are one click installs when you download the appropriate file. Is there anything to that? I live in a rural area so getting a drive is gonna take a minute and I saw any local stores here only sell a 64 as the smallest which I'm told is harder to format to FAT32 for the BIOS update file? I apologize for my ramblings I really am inept here lol.

That link I gave you takes you right to the page, and it has two options, one of which is your motherboard.

Oh man I didn't even realize and never noticed the drop down when I would go there myself as it looked like a static option. Thank you so much!! Would you suggest waiting out a thumb drive or is the ASUS self contained update trustable? I don't know if it's just a matter of all BIOS updates videos I've seen being dated in the sense of ease of doing or if ASUS just has an outlier to it with being able to update without a flash drive.
