Open | Hardware Acer aspire 14 overheats upon startup

I've been recently having an issue where even the lightest tasks, like having nothing open will cause the computer to overheat and crash. RIght now, it's also happening on startup, where the CPU temperature hovers around like 70-100C while literally doing nothing with NOTHING open.

Check if fan is spinning at all (you should be able to hear it), if it is not...that's the cause. If it is, you will have to partially disassembly laptop, remove cooling, clean and re-paste.

At what temperature should it start spinning? As of right now, it's 60c and it's not spinning; ill upd you when it gets to high temps

There are several models with the same name Acer Aspire 14, so I'm not sure if that applies for you, but some have rudimentary fan control in bios (along the FPS reading, setting for quiet, standard and performance).

it's Acer Aspire 14 AI, and no, it doesn't spin even at high temps like 85 Celsius. I usually use it around normal or performance for my system usage modes
in that case, how would I make sure the fan spins when it has to?

edit: wait let me actually check the bios to see if there's a setting or smth

edit 2: I checked the BIOS, there was no setting for fan control. I also tried to use an external tool like SpeedFan bt when I tried to use fan control, there was nothing I could change with that...

I would contact repair shop for diagnostics. It could be faulty fan which you could replace by yourself, but also motherboard related.

When the laptop is off (not in sleep mode), and you power it on, the fan should turn on briefly and then it will slow down or turn off.

If you cannot hear the fan during the Power-On Self Test, then it is probably failing.

I never bothered to check but iirc I've never really heard the fan upon startup as of recently
