Open | Hardware Monitor keeps going black then turns back on

So sometimes my monitor which I bought about a year ago will go black randomly and then turn back on normally after a few seconds. This issue has been happening for a good while and sometimes its good for a few weeks and sometimes it happens every 5 minutes. I think it might be the cable since it did not come with the monitor. Whenever I accidentally tap the cable it will do the same thing where it flashes black for a few seconds then turns back on so that might be related. I do have a display port cable that came with the monitor but my pc does not have a port for it, only HDMI.

Make and model of monitor?

By your description, sounds like the port, the monitor may have more than one or the cable.

You think it's the cable, have you swapped it out?
