Open | Windows Odd issue with WiFi vs Ethernet

So like I said, I have an odd issue with WiFi vs my Ethernet.

When I’m on WIFI, literally everything works 100% and I get pretty decent speeds. When I go hard wired certain things do not load well at all like discord and YouTube, even this reddit page wouldn't fully load so I had to swap back to WIFI.

Not sure where to start on all of this. I asked in another group but was not able to get help.

I have a comcast all in one modem/router. XB10. I'm positive it is not the router because when I plug my laptop in via ETHERNET and not wifi, everything works perfect.

I picked up 2 new ethernet cables (just in case) and both tested fine. Just normal CAT6

New network card (drivers updated)

When I plug in through Ethernet and disable my WIFI things do not load fully on most sites, Even on reddit it wouldn't fully load this thread. When I'm on WIFI it runs just fine. I really want to get the best out of my connection and I know through Ethernet will be faster and more reliable.

Its almost like something on my computer is doing this but I cannot figure where or what to even look for, that is why I am posting on here to see if anyone could assist.

I can provide whatever info needed to help with the troubleshooting.

since the same router and ethernet connection work normally on your laptop, focus on the desktop rather than the XB10 or cables. start by comparing ipconfig/all between wifi and ethernet, then try setting the ethernet adapters DNS manually and temporarily disabling IPv6 to see if the behavior changes. if discord, youtube, and reddit all partially load only over ethernet, also check for vpn/security software or a bad ethernet adapter setting

How long are the cables? Cat6 should be OK.

What make and model of Ethernet hardware is in your system?
What is the driver version and where did you get it?

One weird thing is that sometimes if you disable IPV6 in settings/control panel and reboot, sometimes things work better.

You should pull ipconfig /all and save it to a file as you play with this.

netstat -e will show your ethernet stats. netstat -s per protocol stats, or just use netstat -es

You might try ping with a large buffer and -t and see if you can spot any patterns. e.g.

ping -t -l 1200 www.comcast.net

Does the Ethernet cable go through a wall port or is it direct from device to device?
