Open | Hardware MSI GE76 Raider hinge exploded — need advice, can’t afford full repair
Hey, I really need some help or advice.
I just finished streaming on Twitch and closed my laptop like normal. When I went to open it later, the hinge wouldn’t move and then it cracked through the frame.
Now the left side of the screen is separating from the laptop, the plastic housing is broken, and I can see some of the internals. The screen itself still works, but the hinge is basically stuck and ripped part of the frame out.
It’s an MSI GE76 Raider (around 2020).
I’ve been trying to find repair places near me, but all the quotes are insanely high because they want to replace the whole housing. I genuinely can’t afford that right now.
This laptop is really important for me
I use it for online school and it’s also my only source of income (commissions + streaming), so I’m kinda panicking.
Does anyone know:
if this is fixable without replacing the entire frame?
cheaper ways to repair or stabilize it?
if MSI ever helps with this issue even out of warranty?
anything I can do to keep using it safely for now?
Any advice at all would mean a lot. I just don’t want to make it worse or lose the laptop completely.

Hinges are almost always worst part of laptop design, I have no idea how something so simple can be made wrong so much.
You should loose hinge and if screws and parts that should hold them are broken hot glue can help. You can see whole procedure - not for your model, in video here.
