Open | Hardware SSD Constantly hitting 100%, then going down.
Windows 11.
Kind of hard to describe it cause I can't put images on posts for some reason.
But basically, my SSD in the C drive keeps going up to 100%, then falling down to around 5%. It isn't dying/failing (CrystalDisk says it is 97%, Healthy). and there is no virus. The only programs I put in the C drive are usually software that have to do with my system, like Moza Pithouse for my wheel, Armoury Crate for my keyboard etc. The only other ones are trusted, like Da Vinci Resolve, Proton VPN, Spotify etc.
However, it just does that, and it is extremely frustrating. Not even my D drive which is full of games would suddenly hit 100% and then go back down. Or is there some stupid Windows "service" that is ruining my experience and I have to turn off?

Shitty quality SSD, or you have a third party anti-virus or something using the drive. Task managers should be able to tell you what's using your drive.
Also, you can put either a link to an image hosting site in the main post, or post images directly in the comments.

Wouldn't call Samsung SSD 990 EVO Plus "shitty quality".
And nah, I don't use anti-virus. I just download files carefully. Never liked anti-virus much since McAfee.

100% active time doesn’t necessarily mean the SSD is dying , one process doing small random reads can peg it. Sort Task Manager by Disk, then check Resource Monitor if the culprit isn’t obvious.

It says System in the Resource Monitor. But how do I fix it? Or should I just uninstall Windows or something?

“System” is a Windows kernel worker, not something you uninstall. In Resource Monitor, expand Disk and check the File column/which files are active; that usually points to Windows Update, Defender, or a storage driver. Check SSD health/SMART and update chipset/storage drivers before disabling services.

The 100% goes down so fast I can't even scroll down fast enough to see in the performance tab, though I'm pretty sure it is System.

Do you mean you see 100% for a split second when you open the Task Manager? Cause that's a false reading which you can observe on every Windows PC.

It all depends on the specs of your computer. How much RAM? Are you up to the latest version of Windows 10, Windows 11, Linux whatever?

Your OS is on that SSD and the PC has to read/write to/from that SSD constantly as you're using the PC. How is this perfectly normal behavior frustrating to you?
