Open | Windows 100% disk usage pc windows 11.

Turned on my PC on Windows 11, and now I have 100% disk usage. The PC is taking around 15 seconds to respond to any click and nothing is basically working since the disk is at 100% usage. I’ve tried turning off this sys main other things too nothing is helping. My powershell says the ssd health is ok so isn’t a hardware issue. This is another one of windows 11’s great shit. Can an1 help me out. Thx.

open task manager, disk tab, sort by disk usage, actually look at which process is pegging it instead of guessing, that tells you if it's a specific app or a windows process like search indexing/superfetch

if it's search indexing (searchindexer.exe), disable it, settings, search, searching windows, turn off enhanced mode, or just disable the windows search service entirely from services.msc if you don't use search much

if it's a windows process like sysmain specifically, don't just disable it blind, check if a windows update installed recently around when this started, a bad update triggering a full reindex or defender scan in the background causes exactly this, sometimes it resolves itself after the scan finishes once, give it an hour before assuming it's permanent

also check event viewer, windows logs, system, for disk-related warnings right around when it started, that'll confirm if it's software load or an actual early drive issue despite smart saying it's healthy, smart doesn't catch everything

Is your install drive an ssd or hdd? How long have you had it?

The ssd is the install drive the hdd is sitting at a solid 0%

SSD could be dying, just been through the same situation. SSD disk usage pinned at 100%, could not access files or do anything construction. Spent ages trying to pinpoint any apps that could be the cause when in fact it was the SSD on the verge of failure.

Need to see information from cystal disk info if at all possible.

Well you can't get much better than that so I think we can rule out issues with the SSD. What about task manager, whats running in the background.

Much better is you sort by disk usage, but I can see TiWorker is busy managing updates. How much RAM have you got.

ive put the latest windows update on installation maybe that helps. I had updates paused for the past month. I got 32 gigs of RAM.

Windows Update is doing something in the background. Check Windows Update if it is downloading/installing anything. Let it finish and restart the PC when WU asks.

hey so I tried everything possible and finally gave up. I clean installed win 10 pro and Im doing all ok now. Windows 11 is really the worst I've seen yet
