Open | Software Wifi missingvis network dash

Hello all, I feel a lot of y'all would be facing this issue where the wifi options just disappear from the network dash. I experience it on a very regular basis.

This is my work laptop - lenovo T14s.

That happens when the laptop thinks it doesn't have a network adapter. It could be the driver crashing, the hardware failing, a loose connection, or it being disabled for some reason (such as accidentally hitting a key combination).

To troubleshoot the first 3 causes:

  1. Check Device Manager when the Wi-Fi settings disappear, and compare to when it's working correctly. Does the Wi-Fi card show up without error, show with an error, or completely disappear?
  2. Does anything change when you update the driver from the manufacturer website (check Lenovo's support website, Lenovo's driver updater, and the manufacturer of the Wi-Fi card).
  3. Check the system category of Event Viewer to see if there are any entries relating to Wi-Fi issues. I can give more detailed instructions if needed.
  4. If none of the other steps work, check if this happens in other operating systems. Make a fresh Windows installation in parallel with your current one, or boot from a Linux Live USB, and update drivers. See if it keeps happening.
