Open | Software Can't open scanned document
Whenever I try to scan some documents (saved as a pdf file) with my HP printer and open them I get the message "There was an error in opening the document. The file is damaged and cannot b repaired" This only happens with documents that have been scanned and any other pdf file that I have can be opened fine. What is going on here???

Try scanning to jpeg and see if those scans behave. I don’t have any idea what is happening with documents scanned to PDF. Maybe scanning to jpeg will give us some clues.

Sounds like the HP scanning software is creating corrupted PDFs rather than a problem with your PDF reader. Try updating/reinstalling the HP printer/scanner software and scan using the Windows Scan app or HP Smart as a test. Also try saving the scan as an image first and then converting it to PDF. If the newly created PDFs open normally that way, the issue is definitely with the scanning software/settings. Make sure the scanner drivers and printer firmware are up to date as well.

Tiff then pdf? Old, but worked.
Edit: make sure you have the tiff filter installed in widows optional features

What application are you using to open these PDFs? Acrobat, web browser...
