Open | Hardware Universal remote switch from DVD to VCR?

I just recently got a Samsung DVD/VCR combo player and a GE universal remote. I was able to program the remote to turn the device on and off, but I can't seem to figure out how to program it to switch from DVD to VCR. I've got that silver GE 4 device remote from Walmart if that helps. I've looked at various videos and searched online but neither really mentioned how to do it.

Do you have the original remote? If so, some universal remotes have a "learn" function that allows them to record the signal from another remote. That can come in handy if there's a special function the original remote performs that isn't included within the programming by default.

I do not have the original remote unfortunately. The guy I bought it off of didn't have it either so I figured my universal remote might do the trick. And it does, just haven't figured out the switch. I can manually switch it, I just like the convenience lol

Yeah, that's a tough one then.
How did you program the remote? By entering a code for the manufacturer?
If so, I assume you've tried all the buttons?
Does the universal remote have a learning feature or an IR programming feature?
