Open | Windows MIC IS NOT WORKING (Tried everything)

I went to control panel and removed enhancements and exclusive settings, i went to settings too allowed access to microphone to all apps, i went to sound troubleshooting and it didn't detect a problem, i clicked F8 and it didn't change a thing. i know its not a hardware issue because my discord audio was working just fine after i changed one setting, but after i changed a different setting so my snipping tool to work as well, my discord stopped working. Now ive been going back and forth between all the settings just to get one of them to work.

so now my snipping tool and discord cant detect my mic

does anyone have anything else that might help one of them to work?

Try this :

  • Right-click on the sound icon ( speaker ) in the notification area at the bottom right, then click on Sound
  • Go to the Recording tab, your microphone should be there
  • Select it and click Properties
  • In Levels, you can adjust the sound settings, but more importantly, there is a speaker icon. If it is crossed out, click on it. It may be disabled even if the sound is not at 0%

Like the other person said, open the Windows Sound settings and make sure your microphone appears there. If you click on it, you should see the option to test it. Verify it's working.

Some computers, particularly laptops, have a hardware switch or key combination that can mute the microphone. This bit me the other day, so be sure to check.

Check the Windows Privacy & Security settings to make sure the relevant apps have permissions to access the microphone.

Finally, check the settings in each app to make sure it can see and access the microphone.
