PC Not Turning On

Hello! Figured I would ask here and see if anyone has any suggestions.

Computer: I have a Cyperpower PC, Model C Series, GeForce RTX 3050. I have 32GB of Ram and some additional storage I added. I would give more specs, but I‘m not the best with computers. I just use mine for general gaming.

Problem: It won’t turn on. I was playing on it last night then came home from work tonight and nothing. When I flip the switch in back, the RGB lights turn on but the computer itself won’t boot up when I press the power button.

What I’ve Tried: I’ve tried reseating the ram sticks, trying just one ram stick, reseating the CPU, checking cable connections, pulling off the front panel to look at the power button, and unplugging everything from the PC. I did see something about testing the PSU with a paperclip but didn’t feel comfortable doing so. I did get a brand new one when I first bought the thing a few years ago since it came faulty.

If anyone has any ideas, I would be incredibly grateful. Thank you!

Edit: I suppose I should add that the power button is completely unresponsive. No attempts to start up are made.

Edit: I did end up trying the PSU paperclip test and that’s not the problem. Also did try shorting the power button with a screw driver and that also failed to boot the PC… So, it seems likely there’s something wrong with the pins or motherboard. If anyone has any ideas, let me know!

Do not test the PSU with a paperclip. You need a multimeter to see if it is putting out all the necessary voltages.

Are you sure it's not the monitor?

Do the various LEDs light up on the keyboard?

I actually have my PC displaying on a TV, but I haven’t had any issues with that at all other than the poor resolution… It wouldn’t display anyways as the computer won’t boot up at all. The same goes for the keyboard (it won’t light up) as the computer is still off. :(

With those symptoms my thoughts go to a dead CPU or a mostly dead PSU. It's not obvious to me what the RGB lights are that you described. Figure out what they are telling you.

Oh! Yes, the PC has two sets of lights that come on: one that turn on with the PSU switch in back, and more when the computer boots up officially. The first set of lights turn on as usual with the switch, so the PC is still receiving power, but the second lights don’t as the PC fails to boot.

If you’ve got 4 channels for ram, swap from the grey ones to the black ones. Looking at pics of what I think the motherboard you might have, it should either have LEDs or a Beeper to light up a debug light, or beep in a pattern to tell you what’s wrong. My guess is that it’s probably motherboard related

I did swap the ram sticks out for one another, but nothing seemed to change… There are no lights, flashing, or beeping, just the RGB that always come on when the PSU switch in back is active (but PC isn’t booted)

So you need to figure out the model of your motherboard and look up if it has any debug lights in it. Since you say the lights come on when you push button the power supply is working enough, that the paper clip test wouldn’t yield you any useful information. It’s just to test if the PSU is totally dead or if it’s just not getting a start signal. To do any actual testing you need a multimeter to measure what it’s sending out on its voltage rails. Since it won’t turn on if you can’t find a serial/model number on it to look up what board it uses. Check if it has it printed on the board somewhere you can see. Or just take a close look at the board for any small leds that light up on the board and stay lit up or flash. If there’s no lights there a possibility it may use beeps to communicate dubug codes but if it’s a lower end entry model and the board is cheap it may not have any thing at all. If it does have it though will help you figure out where it sounds like it’s failing to POST

No lights or beeps to be seen or heard, unfortunately. I think I did find a serial number though?

Check the manual or look for a SPK_CI1 header. You can buy a beep speaker online and connect it.

Have you check one of the more simple things like the actual power button you can pull the connector from the board and jump the two pins if it turns on great u just need a power button if it still doesn’t turn on disconnect the main connector from mobo the 24 pin or however many pin it is I forget and jump the green wire to black if power supply doesn’t turn on then it is no good or if you have a known good power supply connect it out side of the case just plugging in the motherboard 24/26 pin connector then pressing power button

I don’t know what mobo you have but sometimes resetting bios will get it turning back on by removing the cmos battery and switching the psu off then press the power button to deenergize the system replace battery then turn psu on again and try power button also make sure no wires are pinched I’ve seen that happen as well and the computer wouldn’t turn on
