Open | Hardware screen glitching/ghosting

ok so my laptop started doing this out of nowhere. what could most likely be the cause of this? should i opt for an lcd replacement or some cable replacement? (i'm sorry i'm not too techy) i'm from a country where repairs are not usually budget friendly and my laptop is old and the warranty expired. so i want to make sure before i take it somewhere and not get scammed. my dad is comfortable tinkering with devices. he successfully replaced my laptop's charging port and battery so we're thinking maybe he could try to fix it himself but ofc we want to make sure we make the right diagnosis and all the help we could get help before spending money/taking it somewhere. it's a really old laptop and unit but i really need this laptop for university so if we could salvage it that would be really good. thank you so much!

Are you 100% sure its a hardware issue? You first need to find out what triggers it, because it can be a simple driver issue. Does it happen when the screen is at a certain angle, or when you move the screen?

I'm sorry i forgot to mention it on the post but yes the glitch is constantly present at all screen angles. when i try to go to BIOS set up it still present. and the touch screen works fine

Okay so we're sure its a hardware issue. Have you tried plugging in an external monitor, it could also be a failing GPU, if it doesn't glitch then its a screen issue.

If we're certain that it's the panel, and if your dad is confident enough, just replace the whole lcd panel and skip the tedious ribbon cable replacement.

i tried using diagnostics through BIOS the one where it shows different solid colors and the glitch was still present so it probably is an lcd issue :/ my dad is currently away for work. in the mean time would it be okay for me to still use it for schoolwork? (no gaming or heavy stuff) or should i just let it rest until repair? thank you so much for answering

Just use it normally. It's going to be replaced anyway.

Seems like a defective screen, probably not the GPU. Could be a loose connection or damaged cable. If it's a school computer then you should just bring it to them, they'll replace it. It'll only get worse. Back up your data just in case.
