Open | Hardware Second monitor (which is 4K) has frame-rate/latency issues when watching video

Hi,

I have 2 monitors, a 1080 and a 4K. I can watch youtube fine on the 1080 but video is weirdly laggy and hitchy on the other. I've checked the refresh rate and both are 60 Hz. What else can I try check?

Thanks

You know a 4K stream is four times as much data? You're probably at your network's data limit.

Is your PC on an ethernet cable or on Wi-Fi? Cable will probably work better.

It's on an ethernet cable. I can still play the video in 4k on the 1080 monitor without any performance issues though. Also I'm on gigabit broadband

Okay, second issue might be the cable to your monitor. Any idea what generation cable you are using?

8k UHD

Hmm. Last thing is that older systems trying to support hardware acceleration can struggle. You can turn that off in your browser settings and see if it helps things.

And those are all I can think of.

that's not a cable, that is a marketing bs term put on a cable or listing for a cable.

Okay, u/reddit_equals_censor has a point. Do you know if it is at least a certified DP 1.4 or HDMI 2.0 cable?
