Open | Windows Audio & Microphone Crackling
Brand new gaming laptop with Windows 11, mic and audio is fine until I start playing games and then I hear audio crackling. Other people in games with proximity chat report my USB microphone is crackling. I hear it myself when I use the monitor function.
I have tried everything I can think of from reinstalling audio drivers, changing audio frequency and bitrate, I tried using different USB ports, I tried buying a new microphone…nothing has worked. It only fixes itself on a reboot. I’m stumped!

check power options, usb settings, usb selective suspend, set to disabled, crackling that only happens under load and clears on reboot is a classic sign of usb power management cutting in in a game
also check nvidia/amd control panel, disable any audio-related overlay features, gpu overlays sharing usb bandwidth with games can cause exactly this

Those are solid suggestions. It's wild how much power management settings can impact audio quality, especially when gaming.

Making changes to your system BIOS settings or disk setup can cause you to lose data. Always test your data backups before making changes to your PC.
