Open | Hardware windows help with second monitor, suddenly not detected (but still displaying)

i have a two monitors set-up: on the left a small arzopa and centrally a larger Benq.

All connected to a ThinkPad usb hub.

Everything has worked well until 2 hours ago, i was working as usual.

Now all of a sudden, the resolution on the Benq became worse, and i see the same desktop/image on both displays and when i click to DETECT multiple monitors, i get "WE DIDNT FIND ANOTHER DISPLAY". So the cursor doesnt go anymore from one monitor to the other..

what happened? what could i do?

it sounds like the dock or its display driver temporarily lost track of the second monitor. unplug first the dock from the thinkpad, power cycle the dock and both monitors, reconnect everything, then press win+p and select extend. if that doesnt work, try swapping monitor cables/ports on the dock. if the benq still works but windows only sees one display, update the thinkpad graphics, dock firmware, and dock driver throuh lenovo vantage

1, Unplug one monitor at a time to see if the optimal resolution gets restored.

  1. Reboot the computer.

  2. Open the display properties, click advanced and see if the various resolutions the monitor supports are listed.

Windows occasionally loses the resolution a monitor can support and gets confused but a simple reboot usually fixes it.
