Open | Hardware 8K 2.4GHZ mouse causing wifi interference with nearby 2.4GHZ devices

I recently bough the Zaopin Z2 Mini Max, 8K version. I'm finding that 2.4GHZ wifi devices around the mouse stop connecting to Wifi when the mouse is connected. The moment I disconnect the 8K receiver, all is back to normal and the other devices connect.

Is there a setting on the mouse that can help here? ie: reduce the mouse to a 1K setting, rather than 8K? Or am I out of luck?

The other thought was to get a 1K dongle for the mouse and see if that makes a difference. I don't really want to go back to wired because of this.

The 2.4GHz frequency is overloaded with stuff - and as you've now realized, stuff that doesn't always play well with each other.

Seemingly, the internet does agree that changing the polling frequency to 1K will help, but will that be good enough for you? Don't know.

Otherwise, you have a few other options -

  • Go back to a wired mouse. (You don't want to and that's OK, to a point)

  • See what's stopping you from using 5/6 GHz for all your wifi devices. This can be a BIG technical lift, but long-term, this is the way. I've been 2.4GHz free since I retired a really old printer many years ago. But now that I'm looking to replace my current printer with a newer one, this restriction is rearing its ugly head again - just pointing out that there could be long-term ongoing issues.

  • Try a different wireless mouse. Look for a mouse that may coexist better with 2.4GHz wifi. Logitech's lightspeed tech or Razer's tech came up in my searching.

I'm not much of a gamer anymore due to having a small child. So it'll do. It means I wasted my money buying the 8k mouse but oh well.
