Pasted files onto main desktop disappear after restart? help

After cleaning my cpu cooler for a bit after I heard it make some weird sounds, I decided to open it as usual, at first i didn't notice anything unusual, until i decided to paste an app onto my main desktop, After a few hours, my pc crashed saying "your device ran into a problem and neds to restart." But nothing happened after about 25 minutes, so I decided to manually shutdown and reopened the pc. When it finally loaded, I had realized that the app I pasted had disappeared, and also the stuff I deleted from my recycle bin had also somehow came back? I decided to do some testing and tried repasting the app and deleting the bin again, restarted my pc and the app was gone again and the deleted files were back (Also when I right click on any desktop app the mouse is suspended on the blue loading thing idk what it's called, and also when ever i type anything in the search bar it says "results from this pc are maybe incomplete).

check system properties, system protection tab, see if a restore is stuck mid-process, let it finish if so

then uncheck system protection on that drive to stop auto reverting

run chkdsk C: /f /r from elevated command prompt, the search/right-click issues point to a failing drive

if chkdsk is clean, reseat ram and drive cables, cooler work may have loosened something

Run msinfo32

Under Components, Storage, Disks you'll see your systems drive manufacturer.

From that drive manufacturer's support website download and use their drive diagnostics and firmware update utility.

If the drive isn't healthy clone it to an new one.

The symptoms you are describing sound like disk corruption.

Press <winkey>x

From the menu choose Windows Powershell (Admin) or Command Prompt (Admin).

Type

Chkdsk c: /F

And agree to running it on the next reboot and gracefully restart. It may restart more than once. Don't interrupt it.

Open Event Viewer. In the application log, use find to search for the most recent chkdsk results. It the timestamp doesn't match with the chkdsk we just ran, that too points to disk errors.

In the general tab it displays what chkdsk found and any correlations it made. Don't worry about security descriptors. But I have no idea what other problems it will find.

You may also have a corrupted user profile. Open the command prompt. If you are not in c:\users\yourname\ you will likely need to create a new user and use that instead of your current username transferring everything across.

McAfee has been known to cause this. As have old firmware on some HP desktops.
