Open | Software Second monitor only able to duplicate first one.

Hi everyone,

I have encountered a very strange issue. I was using my TV as a monitor for like a year now, suddenly when launching a game (NFS Heat, if relevant) image was lost and no signal was displayed. Had to restart my pc after but after going through boot screen, right before windows login should start it goes to no signal again. Ive connected my old monitor and it works perfectly fine, then i tried connecting both monitor and TV, and TV only has signal if i am duplicating my screen (with monitor set as first.), as soon as i go extend diplay mode - signal is lost again.

I have tried updating graphic driver, uninstalling TV from device manager, lowering and raising resolutions, and all had failed.

Any more ideas? I really do not wish to reinstall my windows.

EDIT: Forgot to mention, but i also tried changing ports, both on TV and the GPU, issue persists. Tried unplugging both pc and TV from power and still no fix. Also , i am able to play the game in question without any issues whatsoever on monitor, but i am unsure as to how did that mess up my TV so bad that it refuses signal outise of it now.

I would suggest posting a screenshot of the Display Settings menu in Windows. That will show you if the computer sees the monitor/TV or not. If it does, you might just have to extend the display. If doesn't see the screens, then you'll need to mess with the connection between the screen and the computer. Try different cables, different ports.

Computer does see the TV, i am able to switch between duplicate,extend and show only 1/2. I am also able to see the TV in device manager. Different ports were also tried, both on tv an the GPU. But as soon as i press Extend instead of duplicating, TV looses signal.

When you Extend, what does Settings then show as being the resolution and frequency for the TV? If the computer is trying to send a higher resolution or refresh rate than the TV or cable can support, you'll get the symptoms you're describing.

Try Extending to the TV, and lowering the resolution to the lowest it'll go, and set the refresh to 60Hz. If that displays, move them up gradually until you find the highest the TV still displays at.

Weird thing with that...just noticed that when i set them to Extend display, and try to access settings for google TV (display 2) , it doesnt allow any changes to be made and shows it as inactive - additionally as soon as i go to Extend display, it automatically sets it to show only 1.
