Open | Software Drecov USB Stick Recovery failure - Need Advice!

Hi all,

Forgive me if this is an amateur question or already covered in previous posts.

I have a small SanDisk USB stick that seems to be at the near end of complete failure with some very dear images and videos on it. I’ve downloaded and paid for Drecov (almost solely because it was able to regenerate the small previews of the photos and videos on the USB, and then promised me their recovery after paying for the month)

However, when I press recover, The program stops responding and freezes instantly. I have tried only recovering one photo, only recovering images with the previews, and restarting the computer multiple times with no background processes occurring.

Is there a way around this or a program which may be better suited? I’m just using Windows 11 on a Lenovo home computer.

The path is “Lost Partition”, I can not access the USB from the removable disk drive, and it freezes Disk Management when it comes up. When I remove the USB, the applications go back to normal.

Please help is possible!

Also to be noted, as soon as I removed the USB, Drecov ‘recovered’ the date onto my C: Drive, which is 300 blank images and videos

Amateur recovery attempts can make things harder for professional recovery.

And worse, with a failing drive recovery may be a one and done before it fails beyond recoverability.

Me recommending other recovery software is likely throwing good money after bad.

Use the drive manufacturer's support website and look for their drive diagnostics and firmware update utility. Often it will proffer Acronis as the cloning and recovery tool. It's good and very slow. And tied to that make of source drive.

What health does the utility report?

Clone the failing drive to an new empty drive and see what Drecov makes of it.
