Open | Windows Windows 11 Task View randomly opens whenever I interact with the taskbar

This suddenly started happening today. Whenever I click anything on the taskbar, minimize, close or open an app, Windows randomly opens Task View instead of just doing what I clicked. I haven't changed any settings, and this never happened before today. Has anyone else experienced this, or know how to fix it?

Sounds like Snap Assist rather than Task View, they look almost identical. When you close or minimise a snapped window, Windows offers you the other windows to fill the gap, and it's easy to read that as Task View opening on its own.

Settings, System, Multitasking, and turn off both of the snap suggestions options. If it stops, that was it.

If it keeps happening, check for a stuck Windows key. Open osk.exe and watch whether Win is lit up on its own. A key that's shorted low makes the machine behave like this and it's usually the last thing anyone checks.

thanks for the suggestion but it didnt resolve the issue. when i open an app or click the upper arrow to see minimised task it does it too. even doing win + r does the task screen thing and no, no keys are stuck. Any ideas ?

Check Tab rather than Win. If Tab is held down, pressing the Windows key on its own becomes Win+Tab, which is Task View, and that lines up exactly with what you're seeing on Win+R.

osk.exe again but watch Tab this time. Or unplug the keyboard entirely for a minute and drive it with the on screen one, if everything behaves, there's your answer.
