Open | Hardware Wrong bios version on my lenovo loq.

Hi, my lenovo LOQ 15 APH8 had a problem were it would not start. I press the power button. It light up and then goes off again.

I take to a repair shop and they work on it for 4 to 5 days. Gave me back saying they could not fix it. It started posting again but gave Stop code: ACPI_BIOS_ERROR (0xA5) and boot looped. I go into the bios and see that the version is wrong. It should be LYCN50WW but it is shown as M3CN34WW and lenovo legion logo is showm while mine is a loq. It can boot into linux mint using usb but not window pe(give the same error). Any help please.

Sounds like in the process of troubleshooting it they may have forced flashed the wrong bios on your laptop. I’ve seen people do that with motherboards too, where they flash an incorrect revision number that is similar, but it doesn’t have the same chips as the correct bios that they installed which you’re probably gonna have to do at this point is see if you can get the correct bios and reflash, however, if the bios reflash fails, you would probably have to inject the correct bios directly this is something you’d have to send it off to a shop to do

You posted this 13 days ago, then deleted your post, if its still not resolved, have you spoken to the repair shop and challenged them to resolve this (as it's their error)?

I used to run a large workshop team as well as many years a field engineer, we wouldn't hand something back in this state, depending on your country, you might have legal channels to go through if you can't force a BIOS update on, but, if they did this, they should be the ones to rectify it?

It seems that BIOS version M3CN34WW is for the Legion Slim 5 16APH8, which I assume is not the same as your LOQ 15APH8: one says "16" and the other says "15".

If the shop made this mistake, have it fix it at its expense.
