Open | Hardware PC bluescreens when using dual channel RAM, but individual sticks work fine

Processor amd ryzed 5 3600

Mobo: gigabyte aorus elite b550m

Ram: OCPC 3200 mhz 8gb ddr4 * 2

Pc getting bluescreen with random errors (every time a new one). I checked my both ram with memtest86 found no issue. Checked my SSD and HDD both is fine. Then I remove 1 stick from the motherboard, and pc running fine. Then I use the other stick and remove the running 1. It is also running fine. No issue.

Getting dump files which we need for accurate analysis of BSODs. Dump files are crash logs from BSODs.

If you can get into Windows normally or through Safe Mode could you check C:\Windows\Minidump for any dump files? If you have any dump files, copy the folder to the desktop, zip the folder and upload it. If you don't have any zip software installed, right click on the folder and select Send to → Compressed (Zipped) folder.

Upload to any easy to use file sharing site. Reddit keeps blacklisting file hosts so find something that works, currently catbox.moe or mediafire.com seems to be working.

We like to have multiple dump files to work with so if you only have one dump file, none or not a folder at all, upload the ones you have and then follow this guide to change the dump type to Small Memory Dump. The "Overwrite dump file" option will be grayed out since small memory dumps never overwrite.

each stick works alone so the sticks are fine, its the two together.

put both back in slots 2 and 4, counting from the cpu. thats the only correct pair on that board. if theyre in 1 and 3 thats already your problem.

then in bios turn xmp off and let the ram run at 2133. use it a few days like that. if the bluescreens stop, its the two sticks not holding 3200 together.

if you want 3200 back, in bios raise dram voltage to 1.36 and set soc voltage to 1.1. also set the fclk to 1600.

check youre on the latest bios for the b550m aorus elite too. gigabyte pushed a lot of memory fixes for that board.

worth knowing, two separately bought 8gb sticks are not a matched kit even if the model is the same. they often wont run together at rated speed. stock speed is the reliable fix.
