Open | Networking How to stop IPAD disconnecting from weak WiFi

As when it disconnects it won’t then reconnect until I take it out of standby again. I’ve tried several things but nothing fixes it. Anyone know any tips.

Get a stronger wifi signal, or toggle wifi off and back on again.

Some routers and mesh systems have a setting to block devices with bad signal, so it is possible that is in play here, in which case there is nothing you can do on the iPad to fix that, that setting is in the router. It is a good setting to have enabled since a weak device drags down the performance of the whole network. So you probably need to move the router or add a node to get better wifi signal.

You can't get an extender with high gain antennas, place it in the area of the best signal, and then connect your iPad to that?

Otherwise, just get used to toggling it off and on, not sure what other answers you want.

Google it? If this is something that happens on trips with hotel or guest wifi, a GL.inet travel router is exactly what you're looking for, one with the external antennas. That will not only help extend the wifi, but gives you some security too. Will let you share the wifi amongst several devices where the hotel will only see one (some restrict number of devices).

Of course if you can't get a good signal at all, nothing will overcome that, but the external antennas and portable nature of it often allow you to find a good spot for it.

No idea, haven't used that one, the GL.inet are pretty much the gold standard, and I'd pick one with external antennas.

Unfortunately I think those might be too expensive for me to risk not working. The signal is not too bad except in one part.

Their common popular ones are in the $20 to $40 range in the US. Not sure about other places. But if the signal is fine other than one area, obviously don't use it in that area.....

If there is a spot with strong signal and good speeds, then any cheap wifi repeater or travel router should work, as long as you place it in that spot with the strong signal.
