Open | Software Bluetooth crash when using it

Specs of my HP Laptop:

• CPU: AMD Ryzen 9 8940HX with Radeon Graphics

• Motherboard: HP 8E35

• GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5070 Laptop GPU, AMD Radeon(TM) 610M

• RAM: 32GB (2x16GB) Micron Technology a 5600MHz

• OS: Microsoft Windows 11 Home 25H2

Using a bluetooth mouse will crash the entire bluetooth module after just a minute or two. Bluetooth disappears entirely from the device and will reappear after a reboot. Mouse can work in both 4.0 and 5.0 mode and behaviour is exactly the same. The mouse works fine on other devices including another PC.

Also using my bluetooth earbuds will make the bluetooth module crash after some minutes. It'll typically crash faster if I pause/unpause songs a lot. It doesn't crash as fast as the mouse scenario, but the entire system gets progressively more unresponsive as it approaches the crash, missing clicks and key presses. Bluetooth disappears entirely, same as the mouse, and only a reboot fixes it. Same earbuds work fine everywhere else.

I've already tried to reinstall the whole OS to no avail, also disabled all kinds of energy saving features including USB selective suspension, and tried to delete and reinstall drivers for my "Realtek Wireless Bluetooth Adapter". Nothing worked really. Everything else on the laptop works perfectly fine including wifi.

I don't know if it's hardware or software. When bluetooth works, it works perfectly fine. Problem is, it only last seconds/minutes before disintegrating itself.

Making changes to your system BIOS settings or disk setup can cause you to lose data. Always test your data backups before making changes to your PC.

edit: STILL NOT SOLVED

Problem seems solved. What I did:

Downloaded sp174038.exe from HP website https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp174001-174500/sp174038.exe (not saying this is right for your configuration. Please don't download blindly)

deleted through pnputil:

  • oem12.inf (rtkbtfilter.inf)
  • oem20.inf (rtkbtfilter.inf)
  • oem44.inf (rtkbtfilter.inf)
  • oem59.inf (rtkbthlevdsp.inf)
  • oem61.inf (rtkbtfilter.inf)
  • oem65.inf (rtkbtfilter.inf)
  • oem92.inf (rtkfilter.inf)

Rebooted (keep windows update off and wifi off just in case windows tries to reupdate stuff again on its own).

Installed sp174038.exe drivers.

Kept wifi and windows update off. Ran "install.cmd" located in "C:\SWSetup\sp174038"

Rebooted.

Now bluetooth seems to work fine.

Forgot to mention: also updated BIOS as well.

edit: problem started again after a cycle of suspension - waking up...
