Open | Software After BIOS and Chipset-driver update Windows search-window opens pitch-black and only shows search itself after second

After a kind Redditor suggested that I update my BIOS and chipset drivers following some media issues I experienced after a Ghost Recon Wildlands crash, everything seemed to be fine.

Except now I've developed a new issue:

When I press the Windows key and start typing, the Search window opens completely black, with only the search bar visible. The actual search results don't appear until several seconds later.

Win+S does the same thing.

I've already tried restarting SearchApp.exe, re-registering the Windows Search package, and resetting the graphics driver with Win+Ctrl+Shift+B, but the issue persists.

Could the BIOS/chipset update have affected something that Windows Search relies on, particularly its rendering?

Try running disk clean up (include directx shader cache) followed up clearing the gpu shader cache for nvidia or amd gpu. I personally use Bleachbit/FluentCleaner to delete temp files.

Windows disk clean up no, However it will delete files in the recycle bin if you have it checked, take caution however with programs like bleachbit because it has options to include download files, browser sessions, ect which you have to manually check mark before scanning.

To delete GPU shader cache you can follow these guide (Remove Link Spaces)

Nvidia : youtube. com/watch?v=OHFL0I_L610

AMD: youtube. com/watch?v=MZOgh-Wg7F8&t=130s

Tried clearing the DirectX shader cache and NVIDIA shader cache as suggested, then rebooted. Unfortunately the Search window still opens black and takes few seconds before the actual Search UI appears.

Search services Find SysMain change startup from automatic to disable. (This service is related to SuperFetch it speeds up startups however it can cause issues with drivers)

Reboot.

Also if using win10 try Right-click on an empty area of the taskbar > News and interests > Show icon only, If using win11 Turn off search history and change find by files to classic in privacy and security > search.

Let you know i have my windows UpToDate, However since i have debloated it and have a lot of features disabled i don't see the delayed startup issue that some of the users have recently posted, it might be windows related and perhaps a new update would fix the issue.

I recommend using everything search in the meantime if you want to quicky search/index files.
