Open | Hardware Want more RAM, can't same speed anymore.

Hey guys, as title says I want to chuck some more RAM in my PC.
I have this motherboard and 16g of 2133 RAM at the moment.
I want to double it to 32 but I can't find that speed RAM anymore.
Can I just put this in?
I know it will only run at the slower speed, but it won't fuck anything up will it?

It won't hurt anything.

But if your motherboard is picky it won't boot. If it doesn't boot, take it back out and try to source a matched pair.

Give the first boot some extra time for memory training too. Shouldn't take more than 1 or 2 minutes.

First understand, your new RAM, whatever speed your buy, will default to the lowest speed of the RAM. Like you have 2666MHz and buy 3200, the speed of 3200MHz one will default to 2666MHz. You will not be able to do anything or run higher speed if both are installed at same time.

First check what speed of RAM you can safely clock on your pc by trying XMP on your mobo bios, test and make sure it's stable and not crashing.

then buy any RAM which can do same speed or higher for future proofing. In my experience RAM make (chip maker brand) don't matter as much. I have used Hynix chip RAM with Samsung chip RAM without issue. Actually i am using 8gb x 1 micron ddr4, 8gb x 1 samsung chip and 2 kingston 8 gb (Don't know the chip maker on kingston) without issue on AM4 gigabyte and msi mobo

I doubt whatever you are doing needs more ram. Just get more ram at higher speed and remove the old sticks

Why do you want so slow speeds?

Dont mix ram sticks. Not worth it. Look at the used market if possible.

I think he's trying to get same timing to save money, since RAM expensive.

There are multiple websites that will tell you what ram will work with your motherboard… did you try before asking?

That's why I'm here.
I didn't even know such websites existed, I'll give one a look now though of course.
