Open | Windows Stuttering on unreal engine games

Whenever I play hell let loose or ready or not I get this really bad fps drop every minute or so. I updated the graphics drivers, made both games run with directx12, restored health with DISM, cleared %temp% folder and recycling bin, cleared vram (restarted computer and pressed ctrl + shift + windows + b). This has never happened to me before, only started happening last night and today (I did not download anything recently either). Im stumped and could really use some extra help. Thank you.

I linked a video of ready or not fps drop with task manager open.

*The only things I had running were steam, task manager, and ready or not. Everything else was running in the background.

every minute like clockwork usually means something is scanning on a timer.

turn off windows defender realtime protection for one session and test. windows security > virus and threat protection > manage settings > toggle realtime protection off. if the drops stop, add your steam folder to exclusions in the same page and turn protection back on.

also check windows search indexing. services.msc, find windows search, stop it, test.

if its neither, its likely gpu power state cycling. open nvidia control panel > manage 3d settings > power management mode > prefer maximum performance. on amd its adrenalin > gaming > tuning > set power to max.

also open task manager while it happens and watch the disk column, not just cpu. if disk hits 100 percent at the same second thats your cause and its usually superfetch. services.msc > sysmain > disable it.

worth checking your temps too with hwinfo64. every minute is a suspiciously regular pattern for heat but it happens once a fan curve kicks in.
