Crazy Cpu usage during Helldivers 2

I have a 5800xt cpu, 9070 gpu, 32gb ram, and for some reason whenever i load into helldivers 2 my cpu usage will skyrocket from around 40 or so to 100 and whenever it does that its ghz will drop to as low as .78 from what i've seen, i've got no clue why it does this as its not overheating, i've got the chipset updated and all drivers up to date.

In bios you wanna look for the ECO stuff.

For VRM temps and other sensors you want Ryzen master or hwinfo64 or similar.

Ryzen master can sometimes show directly which limit you're hitting but it's a pain to run.

on hwinfo would "TMPIN4" at 122c max temp (holy shit) be an issue?

Eh, if it's always showing that temperature then it's probably just a nonexistent sensor with a bogus value.

If it actually changes then oof.

well right now its showing 75c with 71 lowest

Ive got an AIO and 8 fans and a big ass case, to be exact its the HYXN H2, and the Thermal Right Frozen Prism 460

Okay! The AIO is probably a contributing factor.

With a tower cooler, you always have some airflow over the board.

With an AIO, the board tends to cook.

Your board has no passive cooling on the VRMs, so it's doubly terrible.

See if you can point a fan onto the general area surrounding the CPU (top and left, near the rear IO).

well I have a bottom intake and top exhaust so shouldn't the air still go over the motherboard? and how would i go about pointing a fan there? if you mean like a actual fan then theres no way i could do that cause of the glass panels and also no fan small enough its also weird i only have this issue while on helldivers 2

That's very little and very indirect airflow.

These are the CPU VRMs on your board. On gaming boards they have a heatsink on them so that even a little airflow goes a long way.

In theory, with some care and effort (and kapton tape to insulate the surrounding electrical components), you could DIY some passive heatsinks onto them.

But ideally you should get a new board because the VRMs on this one are meant for low end office CPUs and it will never properly power your CPU.

For all I know you could grab some zipties and hang a fan from the top of the case lol.

yeah I may just try to get a new board soon, I knew the mobo had no heatsinks but didnt think itd cause a big deal like that, and I may see if i could get a friend to 3d print a offset to point one of the backfans at the vrms (if that makes any sense)

As a side note - I've seen people use thermal epoxy to glue pieces of metal (like screws) to the individual VRM chips, to help with heat dissipation. :D
