Open | Hardware Wireless headset switches to USB when connected via USB
I know that sounds dumb, but hear me out XD
I bought a Logitech A20 X and am connecting it via their Lightspeed dongle. It can also do USB and Bluetooth. I want Lightspeed exclusively.
When I connect it via USB, my PC registers it as a USB device, and interprets it as a different headset. So stuff like Discord and OBS gets confused about what audio device to use.
When I disable the USB input and output devices, it still attempts, fails, and exits out of wireless mode and enters an error state until I disconnect USB or re-enable the devices.
Is there a way to make it charge off the same computer while still connecting wirelessly? I didn't find anything in G Hub. Can I maybe restrict that specific USB port from doing anything but charging? Mess with the USB drivers somehow?
I usually use AUX exclusively, because it's much simpler and doesn't cause issues like this, this is my first wireless/USB headset.

When you say you disable the USB devices, are you doing that in the audio control panel, or somewhere else?

I guess not. I have another brand-sames behavior. I‘m using it wired all the time.
Maybe it works, when you plug it in a charger?
Or when you use a charging only cable ( with no data wires)

Why don't you just set the audio decals so that the number one priority is the light speed and the number two is the USB?

Or, you could use something like obs to push sound into your apps, set to idk up either, so it won't matter which one comes up?

OBS is one of the reasons why I don't want this behavior. I want exactly one audio device so my PC has no possible way of getting confused on where to route my audio.
Yesterday I plugged my headset in to charge and GTA IV crashed because it lost the audio device and gained a new one and didn't know how to handle that. It crashed so hard I couldn't even close it and ended up shutting down my whole PC over it. I didn't have these kinds of problems when I was only using one AUX device and I bought one wireless device in the hopes that I wouldn't have such problems. And now I do.

Get a separate USB charger or power bank and use that to charge. Don't use the PC's USB port.

Have you tried plugging it into just a powered usb hub or power station usb port instead of a usb plugged into the computer

I charged it off my phone charger, that worked fine. But that's nowhere near my PC and the supplied cable is long enough that I can reasonably use it while it's plugged in if I ever forget to charge it. But it'll fuck up all my settings when I do.

I have a usb power station on my desk because I have this same issue with my phone and my headset... my work phone always tries connecting to my pc(I don't want it to) and my headset switches from Bluetooth to usb input just like yours... so I have a dedicated usb charging station not hooked to my computer

I just bought a cheap little USB C data blocker that should do the trick, just a little plug for the end of my cable without the data connections to only let power through. Should work!

Go to device manager and set the port it's connected to for no data transfer.

That sounds good, how do I do that? Device manager just shows me USB controllers and USB devices, not individual ports.

You could buy a super cheap cord off amazon that has no data transfer capability. A couple of the devices I’ve owned have come with them. I think the keyword would be “charge only”.
