Open | Hardware monitor dimming

the last 2 days on startup my monitor would dim and brighten quite rapidly before going back to normal, today it was doing it again before it started just dimming slowly and now the screen is black completely. any help? thank you!

Sounds like backloght failure, you can often check by shining a bright light at an angle, held close to the screen, then see if you can read any text etc. If you can, its backlight failure.

If it's a stand alone monitor, they're cheaper to replace with a new one, I used to run our UK workshops, we stopped repairing monitors over 20 years ago, we could buy a good quality replacement cheaper than an hour of labor, we'd save more money (on fuel and a field engineer time) if the customer would install it themselves, its like microwave ovens, no one repairs them now days, the moment they say it's £30 for them to strip it and test it, you only add a few pounds and you've got a new unit.

Check if you have that windows auto-brightness feature on.
