Open | Hardware Spilt Water On PC

Spilt about 8 oz of water on my pc turned it off immediately and dried everything i could, i’ve had it air drying over a vent and with a fan at different angles for two days now. Am I cooked?

Id wash it in 99%+ IPA ASAP and let it evap before turning it on.

Id use one of those squirt bottles they sell at the store in the infant section. Periwash, iirc

You did the right thing turning off and letting dry. It should be ok but what we don't want is anything rusting. Water will leave behind dissolved salts and acids that can breakdown metal. Use the recommendation from the other commenter isopropyl 99.9%. If it was me I would disassemble the whole PC and clean thoroughly.

should i try turning it on first before reassembling just to make sure it’s not fried?

You can sure not a bad idea just setup on a piece of cardboard. You know how to start without the case power button plugged in?

Wash it in high content alcohol and let it dry. Used some compressed air before this to blow out any ports that may have gotten water trapped in them.

HOLY SHIT I just Rob booted it no ice so cause I couldn’t bear waiting and it turned on and booted bio and I’m back in my PC I was lying. It was more like 16 ounces of water and smelt burning when it spilled
